Why do people want to get trashed at sporting events?

I’ll probably break the record on down votes for this post, but I just don’t get it. It’s one thing to have a beer while at the game, but why spend the entire game getting trashed? Can’t tell you the number of times I’ve sat next to people that spend the entire game either going back to buy more beer or to take a piss. Even worse are those that bring their young kids and continuously mix drinks the entire game in front of them. Do these people really pull for their team or is it just a somewhat socially acceptable excuse to get trashed? Why even bother to go to the game? If you can’t enjoy a concert or sporting event without getting trashed, you are probably a borderline alcoholic.
I’ll take my down votes now.

Trashy dregs of society

I don’t get it either. When I’m yelling all game, too much alcohol just makes my head pound. Not fun.

At the Florida game a guy on our row didn't even make it to kickoff. His friends had to half-carry him out.

I hurl my best insults when I'm loaded. I'm funnier also.

I tried getting smashed when I was a college student at the LSU games. I couldn’t focus on the game. I quit doing that.

Two things I don't understand:
1. Drinking alcohol
2. Watching adults play games (even worse, spending money to do so)
Both, to me, are a waste of time, energy, health, and money.

I did it once in college and never again. Drank while pomping at my fraternity house all night before homecoming. Was already hammered by 8am, passed out after the parade (screwing my chance to network with a US Senator and Rep), somehow got to the stadium for a 3pm game, and I think I was helped back to the house at halftime where I then slept through the party and didn't wake up until the sun was down ON SUNDAY.
Aside for the 2.5 hour drive I make to the game and being with my kids, I am paying good money for tickets and I prefer to remember every game. If I want to watch a game and get hammered I'll do it at home where a case is cheaper than 2 beers at the stadium.

I bet you have a ton of friends.

Too each their own. I don’t understand people who buy tickets for their kids just to give them an iPhone and tell them to play games for 3 hours. Have a kid that sits by me that literally plays games from kickoff to the final whistle without looking up once.
