To change a statement into a question without starting over.

Billy Napier does this all the time and it pisses me off. Makes whatever he is saying come out with a lot less confidence.
Brian Kelly uses it every once and awhile. It does not piss me off or get me aggravated.

Well, without right at the end, it is a statement. That may be false.
If you say, "are we going to be open tomorrow?" it is a question but it relays a message that you are an indiot and should already know that answer.
If you say, 'We are not going to be open tomorrow...right?" It shows you kinda know what you are supposed to know, but want to make sure.

Think some of you are overthinking this.... maybe it's become slang, people use it simply because others use it.
Not some deep seated need for affirmation. Right?

The example here is just a question
quote:
IE: We're not going to be open tomorrow right.
Better example:
Attention everyone; We will be closed tomorrow right.
The period should come after tomorrow and that be the end of it.
Its annoying as hell to me.

How about……”The thing of it is..right?”

Like the dude in Alien that started and ended his sentences with Right.

Used to have a manager that said this shite at the end of every sentence. It was a defense mechanism since he didn’t know his arse from a hole in the ground.

Same ones who start the sentence with “So…”
I notice Joe Burrow does this a lot in interviews, particularly when a question inspires a behind-the-scenes story/anecdote. I look forward to it bc I know it will almost always be interesting/revealing: "Sooo, the first time I had crawfish..."
But I find it is most often used by his generation when I do hear it. And it's not just regional, like say, Valley Girl lingo, specific to northern Cali. It's a subtle generational phenomenon.

I came here to say this and let me add this to the end of your sentence:

In WI we often say "or no." at the end of sentences.

Same reason people use “I mean” to start a sentence. It’s useless and makes no sense, yet morons love drawing attention to their moronic nature.
They are the modern Valley Girls.

I pre-empt this with a statement "At any point someone please jump in and correct me, but as I understand it.... blah blah blah" Then I don't have to ask "right?" at the end of each statement. I just go. And if I'm wrong about something, people are empowered to cut me off and correct me.
Executive skills pro-tip.

I mean, they even do it when typing. It's one thing for vocal disfluencies to come and go in spoken word, but taking the time to actually type out the disfluency makes it even more annoying.
