Why do people think robots are a good idea?

I have seen a couple robot videos posted in here recently, the one that comes to mind is the robot walking down the street. It got me thinking why do these nerds think creating robots is a good idea? We have all seen the movies this only going to end one way if they keeping fricking with these robots.
ETA: While it would be awesome to never have to clean or do laundry again and have a robot do it. It’s just not worth the possible end result.

They’re building robots to go to space, and do butt stuff.

First off, exploring space will require using robots. Humans simply can't do unless we end up with

Let’s all be clear. Robots aren’t the issue. Artificial Intelligence is the issue.
Guns don’t kill people and robots won’t kill people either. But that AI they keep ducking with will most certainly tell the robot to get a gun and kill every human.

because people are lazy, and cheap, so a robot you can buy to work for them for free forever 24/7 with no expenses to keep it alive equals guilt free slavery even from those SJW cucks
not sure how they havent seen the terminator movies that explain where all this AI robot BS ends up, and it aint going to be like the george jetson maid
