I love the super busy response when asking parents to help with their own kids’ activities.

Amen. As if you have so much stuff that’s more important than being an involved parent.

It's easy for some......They are emptying garbage cans in the Boardroom and we are the ones filling them up.

Some people really are that busy. My SO and I both work multiple jobs and care for our elderly parents. You never know what a person might be dealing with.

The worst are the people who say I forgot to eat lunch because I was busy. No you didn’t.

People think they're too busy for anything now. They genuinely think they're always busy because they are always engaged with their phone, tv, or computer. People now want to do things when THEY want to, not when someone else wants it.

I'm that way. No one on this planet (the only exception being occasionally my wife) puts me on a time schedule.

I'll do it when and if I feel like it. And my definition of "busy" is irrelevant. Like today, I'm going to be changing a trigger and sights on a handgun then tinkering in my shop. To some that's not busy, but to me I don't give a shite. It's what I want to be doing today.

Perhaps... just maybe, the person didn't want to attend your dumb event? People are trying to figure out how to make a living these days and don't have time to deal with social events.

My wife will make this excuse for everyone in her family about not responding or doing things. It's something I've told her is complete bull shite. It's lazy and excusable most of the time

A lot of people equate being busy with work ethic or involvement and wear it as a badge of honor. These people choose this lifestyle and then the majority of them complain about it constantly. It's a very strange phenomenon.

Just be direct. Don’t bullshite me. I don’t do the phoniness.

occasionally a coworker/acquaintance/friend will ask if I want to go to some sort of event and i'll decline on the spot if it's something i know i have no interest in and they're often pretty surprised when i pass on the offer.

people are so used to asking someone to do something, the invitee accepting, then flaking later. weird stuff.
