re: Why do people let dogs sleep in their beds?

Dogs are needy. Some of them are more well-trained than others, for sure, but if you actually keep an objective eye on even a well-trained dog, it's still pretty needy.
I will say this: I've owned two dogs in my life and both were very well-trained. Neither ever barked except on command. Neither got on our furniture or our beds- ever.
That said, one dog was an inside dog, and the other stayed outside, and the inside dog was needier than the outside dog. We didn't get misbehavior, but we definitely got pleading glances and well-restrained canine angst in the presence of any sort of temptation. And the inside dog needed a lot more exercise.
So I guess in that very broad sense I agree with OP.

Like what the frick? Your bed is supposed to be the cleanest part of your house. How the hell can you sleep in a bed that’s covered in fur and dander, next to the equivalent of a small horse?

What’s going on folks?
1. My dog is small
2. My dog is silent
3. My dog doesn't shed-at all.
4. My dog sleeps on top of the outer blanket
5. She just started doing it out of the blue one day, and I just didn't do anything about it.
6. Since starting to sleep in the bed, the dog hasn't peed on the floor.

And besides, dogs are better than humans because they aren’t smart enough to do things like commit tax fraud, steal people’s identity, rob banks etc, but that doesn’t mean they are better.
No but if you attack me, my dog will bite your nutsack off instead of videoing the attack with his smartphone to post on FB.

As an Asian I have to ask. Do you wear your shoes in the house? Do you still wear your shoes while sitting on the bed or laying on the covers?
Cause that's way more disgusting and dirty.
Also if the hair bothers you, can always get a non-fur type dog that has the same type of hair as humans.
I had a dog like that and never had to worry about fur getting everywhere. (Not that I would mind fur either since I like animals)

I love dogs. Absolutely love dogs.
But there is no way a dog is sleeping in my bed with me.
I don't let my kids in my bed. Why would I ever let a pet?

This is a pretty good thread. I am not a big animal person, but it's probably because we just had little things growing up like fish and hamsters as my sister was allergic to everything. I would love a dog...for about an hour per day. Having a dog wipe it's butt in my bed is gross.

Now all dogs have worms and wipe their asses with sheets?
What is going on here?
All dogs are covered in fleas and ticks and wipe their assholes in bed. Whodathunkit.

Responses like this are why a lot of people think deeply passionate dog owners have a psychological imbalance.
What you posted sounds like you’re only one tickle fight away from getting to second base if you haven’t already.

I love my dog so much I put him in a crate for hours at a time when I'm not home. He just loves it in there. I know he does. I love him so much I put a shock collar on him so I can send an electrical current through his body when he does something I don't like. I love him so much I had his balls cut off, too.
This kind of reinforces the "dogs are better than people" thing. No?

Why do I keep seeing your username everywhere?
Is it because you keep having terrible takes and posts. Probably

Dogs lick their own assholes. Right after they lick their assholes, they lick your face.
Those that don’t lick their assholes, wipe their assholes on your carpet or on your bedsheets.
So no, not even close. Dogs are worse than humans. That’s why normal people call these creatures - animals.
