Why do people let dogs sleep in their beds?

I mean first of all I don’t really get the appeal of dogs in general. Anytime I go to someones house with a dog, my experience goes like this

1. Dog barks loudly as soon as I knock
2. Friend opens the door for me and tells dog to shut up
3. I sit down on sofa that’s covered in dog hair, and try to hide my disgust
4. Dog calms down and goes off to do stupid dog shite
5. Friend says “do you want some food peepdip?” I say sure thanks!
6. Dog stares at me with pathetic dog face the entire time I eat
7. Owner takes dog outside to take a shite
8. I wonder what the hell is the point of all of that.

With that said, I know that a lot of it is just about companionship and that people like dogs more than me, it’s their house, I can put up with it for a few hours while I watch football or whatever.

However, I hear all the time about people sleeping with their dogs and how their dogs “totally hog the whole bed haha, he thinks he’s a person! XD”

Like what the frick? Your bed is supposed to be the cleanest part of your house. How the hell can you sleep in a bed that’s covered in fur and dander, next to the equivalent of a small horse? It’s usually mentally ill women who refer to themselves as dog moms, but I’ve noticed plenty of men do it to. Is it like smoking cigarettes, where you’re around nastiness so much that you don’t notice anymore?
