I have two 80 pound dogs that arent allowed on the bed or the furniture... If you start them young, they have no clue what they're missing

I dont need 80 pound heat blankets on me while I sleep

i miss my weiner dog sleeping under the covers by my legs every fricking night. she was the best.

she didnt shed. she didnt bark. she just laid there up against me for warmth. when i woke up in the morning she would crawl out and nuzzle me for 30 seconds before wanting to go outside.

I mean first of all I don’t really get the appeal of dogs in general. Anytime I go to someones house with a dog, my experience goes like this

1. Dog barks loudly as soon as I knock
2. Friend opens the door for me and tells dog to shut up
3. I sit down on sofa that’s covered in dog hair, and try to hide my disgust
4. Dog calms down and goes off to do stupid dog shite
5. Friend says “do you want some food peepdip?” I say sure thanks!
6. Dog stares at me with pathetic dog face the entire time I eat
7. Owner takes dog outside to take a shite
8. I wonder what the hell is the point of all of that.

With that said, I know that a lot of it is just about companionship and that people like dogs more than me, it’s their house, I can put up with it for a few hours while I watch football or whatever.

However, I hear all the time about people sleeping with their dogs and how their dogs “totally hog the whole bed haha, he thinks he’s a person! XD”

Like what the frick? Your bed is supposed to be the cleanest part of your house. How the hell can you sleep in a bed that’s covered in fur and dander, next to the equivalent of a small horse? It’s usually mentally ill women who refer to themselves as dog moms, but I’ve noticed plenty of men do it to. Is it like smoking cigarettes, where you’re around nastiness so much that you don’t notice anymore?

What’s going on folks?
I agree with about 95% of this. I don't mind hanging out with some dogs, and could see the benefit of going on walks with a dog or whatever (especially if I was a single person). But IMO, the drawbacks of having a dog do not outweigh the benefits. Not only do "dog homes" have hair everywhere, they also smell like dog homes.

Also, it is absolutely disgusting that people sleep in bed with their dogs.

I can’t really say. But I’d imagine it’s because it’s their bed, their dog, and they’re going to do whatever the hell they feel like.

I’ve been in many peoples houses where there have dogs.
When you see ticks crawling across the dining room table while you’re eating and you see fleas in the carpet you realize dogs do not have the greatest hygiene.
People can do what they please it’s their house but for me and my house there will be no dogs inside. And I have two of them.

Unconditional love from a beast with no brain doeee

I wouldn't go that far, but yeah. Stop feeding that mutt and see how far that unconditional love goes. Loving your dogs is great. We have two and love them, but treating animals as equal to humans is just immoral.

Who the frick do you hang out with and why are they such disgusting dog owners?

My dog hasn't had a flea or tick in 8 years. Sure as shite don't have them in the house. And he's an 80 lb beast that loves to play outside.

Drugs like Trifexis completely eliminate fleas on dogs. Spray the yard a couple times a year too to get rid of all bugs (not for dog per se either). My dog also doesn't shed much and we have a Roomba that runs nightly.

He sleeps on our king bed on a thin top blanket that we wash every few days.

ETA:

We have sold a couple houses over the years using this same routine and never has anyone thought it smelled like a dog. We've had "stagers" at our house several times and I've asked about the dog and they say it's a non-issue because our place is clean.

Takes very little effort (and the right breed I guess) to keep the house clean with an indoor dog.

I love my dog so much I put him in a crate for hours at a time when I'm not home. He just loves it in there. I know he does. I love him so much I put a shock collar on him so I can send an electrical current through his body when he does something I don't like. I love him so much I had his balls cut off, too.

Why's that funny?

It's not like he's in mud pies outside. We've got a nice lawn he chills on while barking at squirrels. And it's not like we'd let him on the if he was really dirty.

I mean, to each his own. I don't care what others do, but to say having dogs inside or in your bed leads to ticks and fleas crawling every where, a bad smell, and hair covering everything is just bullshite. It's about the dog breed and more importantly the owners.

It's not hard to keep the house clean with a big indoor dog.

Still don't see how that's weird

My wife and I both love when he sleeps at our feet. We've got plenty of room and he just balls up and doesn't move all night.
