Most of the rich people I know are a little of both. Inherited money, but worked hard and grew it and behaved and invested responsibly.

I definitely know people who don't try because they were taught at a young age that trying wouldn't matter because the deck is stacked against them (by rich people), now would these people ever become rich if they weren't raised this way? Maybe not, but they sure as hell didn't try.

I'm disagreeing with the whole premise that people hate rich people because of Karl Marx.
I think if Karl Marx was never born, people would still dislike the rich.
Also there would just be a different "father of communism"

Sometimes it's justified - like when wealth was created and maintained through oppression and tyranny.
But in a capitalist society, it's just envy and misdirected self-disappointment.

I admit I have tinges of envy for wealthy people that are able to go on fabulous hunting and fishing trips.
At the same time I realize it’s my own fault because I didn’t have the drive and temperament to be an entrepreneur or build a business like some wealthy people I know.
I was more of a 40 hr./week person( with a little overtime here and there)that didn’t have to worry about anything when I was off.
I’m very comfortable,I have nice 7 figure portfolio through investing,even there I could have been more aggressive.
It all relative I guess,I know people that think I’m rich because I own my own hunting land and have 3 tractors to keep it up.

I think they have a hatred of the rich and maybe that fuels their communist/socialist ideals.
As humans had hatred of the rich way before we had the words communist or socialist.

Im not saying be a stingy a-hole but very few people have the attitude of “I don’t want to leave my kids anything or make life harder for them.”
That's what I'm saying, people will go "those kids did nothing to earn that" and my question will always be "and you think your kids have more of a claim to it?"
