Why do people from the eastern hemisphere struggle with elevators?

These people have been working here for years and still run into an elevator before people get off. What's the deal?

tell me about it. i go to the bathroom at work and 7/10 times there are shoe prints on the toilet seat and piss everywhere.

Because in their home country if you don't push your way onto an elevator, train, or bus you'll never get on.

Reprogramming that is an arduous task.

Right which goes back to the overcrowding and lack of resources. We developed an appreciation for personal space by generally being able to have it in the first place.
