re: Why do parents feel their kids are allowed to be loud in public?

ETA: Hurr durr you don't have kids is not an acceptable response. I was a child once and I wasn't a noisy piece of shite. Me not having kids has no bearing on people's willingness to let their own children run rampant and lack respect. Do better.
This is pretty lame. You are effectively judging parenting skills as someone that isn’t a parent and saying you can do better. All I will tell you is that when you were a kid, you were an annoying little shite yourself. We all were. That’s something you get to learn as a parent. Battles must be chosen.
That isn’t to say that some people couldn’t do better. If your kid is out of control in a place you can get them out of, you should. This appears to be your point here

And if they start to go ballistic while you're out, do your job and discipline them and leave. Have some dignity.
As for this:

Common excuse is "kids are just loud, you can't control it" but you can control where you bring them.
You can also control where you go.

it should be easier to keep the rug rats quiet in public places, just give them a phone or an ipad, that'll shut em up

LOL, yes you were. I challenge you to go to ANY school. ANY gathering of kids. Kids get loud. And when they get loud, they get LOUDER.
Some kids are more annoying than others, though. Your memory is clouded.
Yep, kids have always been rowdy.
People complain about everything restaurant related. Kids, tipping....etc. They're hermits who havent figured it out yet and don't need to be around other people.

I’m the a-hole and douche in this thread? That’s funny.

I agree. Parenting and teaching manners just aren’t something people do much anymore. By the time kids are about kindergarten age they used to be taught to use their “inside voice”. They can also be taught not to run around the table, etc. It’s part of the trashifying of our society.

It's still being taught, but too many parents are letting their kids run the house. Then act surprised when they don't act right around others.

Most people talk a quietly on planes but we know kids don't naturally do this. They could easily say "hey sport, let's bring the volume down a bit"
I’m going to try this next time.

That's bullshite. If you suck as a parent, i don't have to have children of my own to identify your failures.

When I was a child I was taught children are to be seen but not heard. I raised my children in the same manner. Oddly enough they’ve both grown into well adjusted and polite people who can function in public. Strange how that happens.

I also know that I have no control over it. There are kids that run around this apartment complex screeching, fighting, playing, and the like. They're so fricking loud and seemingly run around for hours. I see nothing wrong with kids playing outside, but the logistics of an apartment complex make it so they are always right outside someone's window. I don't think it's very fair to the other residents of the complex.
But I can't do anything about it. We are leaving the complex. I can't expect everyone to cater to my needs, even though I feel I'm in the right. If I complained, as shitty as it is, and as stupid as it is, the primary argument these parents would enact would be that I don't have kids (as if that means anything).
*says there is nothing wrong with kids playing outside
*complains about kids playing outside

Young parents don't parent, they want to be friends with their kids.

Reading comprehension might not be your strong suit.
I fully understand what you were saying. You were bitching about kids playing outside just because they happen to live in an apartment complex.
Don't be cheap and rent a first floor apartment next time if it bothers you.

You chose to live in an apartment complex and don't think its fair?
What did you expect living in such close quarters with humanity?

My kids are older now but my oldest would throw a fit at times when she was a toddler and when she did, I'd grab her and leave. Once my wife and I tried to sit down and have a meal at a restaurant and she started acting up so we picked up and left.

Yeah, when mine were little, if they were fussing or yelling one of us would have to take them outside, take them to look at the fish tank or whatever the restaurant had, or otherwise control them at big family meals at nice places. It was a good incentive to teach them to behave, getting to sit and enjoy drinks and appetizers with everyone else. Now if it was Chuck E Cheese, yeah, let them scream and run around. But not at nice places.
