re: Why do OTers pretend they don’t eat fast food?

Good point. I wonder if it had to do with them having more locations than other places? I feel like I had read in the past that Subway had dramatically more locations than other fast food places.
I could be wrong. My memory is crap.

Blimpie was a great sandwich

Probably for the same reason they pretend they don’t qualify for the stimulus check.
Haven’t received it yet though.

It’s like everyone collectively decided to avoid Subway all at once.
Besides the food taking a sharp nosedive in quality, having their national spokesperson thrown in prison for being sexual predator pedophile didn't help their image any.

The half size sweet onion chicken teriyaki is only 320 calories (going by their standard toppings -- you can make it more or less), so I used to get it sometimes, but it just feels like it isn't real chicken or something.

That shite is cake.

Irish Supreme Court Rules That Subway Bread Has Too Much Sugar to Count as Actual Bread
quote:
The law states that for bread to be considered a staple food, and thus not subject to VAT, its sugar content “shall not exceed 2 percent of the weight of flour included in the dough.” However, Subway’s bread comes in at a whopping 10 percent, bread only in spirit. Looking forward to our lunchtime turkey and cheese on a Danish, as well as the brewing U.S. vs. Ireland culture war. An assault on cake-bread is an assault on all of us!

WTF happened to this place? It used to be pretty popular.
More popular places like Firehouse, Jersey Mike's and Jimmy Johns expanded and their food is better in the fast food sandwich category.

Yeah, I saw that.
So much of our food is shite.

There's been big national expansions for other sandwich shops in that time so Subway has a lot more competition now.

Huh. I had no idea we were on the verge of a culture war with the Irish.

mcrib
It is shaped like ribs with bones because someone took “meat” and forced it into a mold.
Just the visualization of that is disgusting.

Jersey Mike's and Jimmy Johns
I enjoy both a good bit. Wish we had one in town. If you're in JJ's delivery area, it's the best bang for your buck around. It's only 10 or 11 bucks, even with a 3 dollar tip.

I never understood the hate for Jimmy Johns
It’s incredibly fast, consistent, and in good locations (at least for me)

I've never had a bad sandwich from there. I've never had a fantastic one, either, but I know what I'm getting and, as you said, remarkably consistent.
I get the ham and bacon sandwich, add provolone and hot peppers. Fills me up satisfactorily every time, but for some reason those peppers give me the hot shits even when much hotter ones don't.
