When I was looking to leave Baton Rouge, I posted about two jobs, one in the Woodlands, TX area (which I had heard of), the other in Naples, which I knew nothing about. Everyone said Naples. I took a chance, moved here, sight unseen, had never even visited. 4 years later, went through months of flooding, a giant hurricane, but I love it here in SWFL. Quiet, my drive to work is 10 minutes or less, driving through beautifully landscaped roads, no trash. 3 hours in any direction are pro-sports teams, amusement parks (Disney, Universal, Busche) and Key West. People knock Florida but it is really nice here.

bruh I love the cold
I was born and spent my early childhood in NH. I'd rather have a Game of Thrones style winter for a few months than walk around sweating and feeling moist all day for 5 months out of the year.
All these plastic straws have made the summers unbearable

Nothing against Naples, I hear it’s a nice area. But those three are not selling points (in my personal opinion)

Those 3 months are just absolutely unbearable. If it’s not 99% humidity and 90 degrees, it’s raining.

It's that time of year you can do the steaming hot water trick. Take a glass of boiling water go outside and throw it in the air. It instantly evaporates into a cloud of steam. Very cool science guy trick to impress the kids.

Don't really know. Maybe lake trout in the big lakes?
We just fished for bream ("sunnies" up there) and white perch (craaaaaaaaaaapie) and even some decent bass (bass).
Obviously no shortages of places to get a line wet in the land of 10k lakes.

Wrong part of up north. Our lows average in the 40's. Below freezing is rare, much less negative temps.

The roads were built with enough lanes to handle the traffic easily. There are many alternate roads if one is closed due to a bad wreck. Even in snowbird season the traffic is nowhere anything like the abortion in Tampa, Orlando, Baton Rouge, etc.
There are bars, many types of food, and live music. It is not far to some decent live theaters.
If not for hurricanes and 11 months of summer, it would be awesome.

Southeast MN's bluff country has miles of streams with good trout fishing and stunning scenery.
