Also, not advertising that you work in the medical field in some capacity prevents people from bringing up all their personal medical problems to you.

9 fricking pages on whether or not scrubs are appropriate attire at some shitty local diner?

No hospital in the country launders scrubs for nurses unless they work in surgical areas and you are more likely to get sick from some a-hole sneezing at Walmart or coughing in an elevator....

I never have had that problem. Too many people wear scrubs now. I could be a doc, medical sales, pharmacy tech, or vet.

That place isn't a "shitty local diner". It's actually a fairly nice restaurant owned by a well known local chef. But that was never the point. It's not a dress code thing. It's a cleanliness thing. But it's pretty much been cleared up in this thread.

If that was the case, nobody who wears a uniform of any kind would be allowed in a restaurant. Plant workers (FRC's), Garage mechanics, hell, even the pest control people.

Who in the frick thinks anything extraordinary about a doctor. I guess I never thought it was anything to brag about.

Yea well I'd prefer not to see those people, either.

People keep bringing up plant workers and whatever the hell they wear, but I have no idea what they wear or how clean or dirty they may be after work.

Clean scrubs no problem. Stethoscope or lab coat suspect.

You are freakin' crazy dude!

So many people in the medical field wear scrubs and some never do anything at all to be in "filthy arse scrubs"

I have quite a few Dr friends, and work in related fields, I have never heard anyone of them say or talk about this phenomenom. Maybe I just dont run into assholes too often.

I dont see a problem with grabbing a bite in scrubs, to put it back on topic.

Go ahead and tell us what a physician should wear in the hospital and clinic setting and why.

You wear the damn lab coat while you are working in the hospital. When you leave the hospital, you take it off.

It works both ways. Nobody wants a cloth Petri dish from a hospital rubbing up next to them in line at a restaurant. But neither does anyone want their doctor examining their ill and possibly bare body in something that's been practically drug around a sidewalk.

I don't think I have ever seen an MD wearing his/her lab coat outside a hospital/clinic.

lol. Walk around Birmingham around 5th ave for about a block and you will see a dozen, minimum.
