I don't think I have ever seen an MD wearing his/her lab coat outside a hospital/clinic.
Let me clarify that statement...
There are plenty of MD's that will wear their white coats when they are around a major hospital complex. At Johns Hopkins, people would wear their coat to nearby walking-distance restaurants.
That's not unusual, but I usually don't see someone in their white coat shopping at a local Wal-Mart or eating at a restaurant, they would leave their coat in their car.

Some chicks in scrubs are hot.
In med school, during my clinical rotations, I remember there were several young nurses that washed their white scrubs so much that the fabric was almost transparent. They would wear white thongs underneath which emphasized their tanned skin. Very attractive package...
However, they were on the hunt for surgical residents, thus wouldn't give a lowly 3rd year med student the time of day.

Not all of us like to wear them. I always bring a change if I know I'm going somewhere but stuff comes up on days that I don't have a change. Hate to wear them outside of work and change everyday when I get home too before I do anything else.
All professions have idiots who think they are important. If you see me in scrubs it isn't because I want to be though I can promise you that.

lol. Walk around Birmingham around 5th ave for about a block and you will see a dozen, minimum.
I'm gonna go ahead and assume this is near the medical school and huge medical center they have out there. Which would be pretty normal.
Your jimmies seem rustled.

Same thing with military guys who go out in their cammies. Why do you want to socialize in the same clothes you kill in?

Wife thought this was a funny thread.
"Today I scratched my face with my right hand, and was like, shite, did I just do that? Left hand is useful hand, right hand is no go."
Always shake the ob's left hand guys/gals.
