Why do golfers get so pissy?

Just this morning I was on vacation and the condo I was staying in was near a golf course. As my family and I went on a walk we accidentally made a wrong turn and ended up on one of the golf cart paths. A cart pulls up behind us and as my family and I tried to step aside the dirtbag driving the cart gets out and says “Hey y’all shouldn’t be here right now when there’s golfers.” I know that sounds fair enough, but he said it in a tone that came across really poorly. Took every muscle in my body not give a smart arse response but I just played it cool.
That being said I feel like that attitude is kind of the norm with a lot of golfers as I’ve seen people playing golf act out towards those who around them more often than any other sport. What is it about golf that causes guys to turn into shitheads and act like angry toddlers?

They knew your family was poor and they dont take kindly to poors on a golf course.

Middle aged men that probably have trouble getting it up and have a terrible sex life otherwise. Of course they are miserable

He was trying to help you not get hurt or killed. If you were in a landing zone you could have easily gotten hit with a golf ball.
And the fact that you already admitted you were lost means you have no idea if you were in a landing zone or not.

Did the tee box, green, or fairway not give it away you were on the golf cart path?
You probably would have sued had you been hit by a ball when you shouldn't have been out on the course in the first place.

Sounds like the golfer was looking out for the safety of the kids since their father was too ignorant to figure it out.
