Ghetto mail man told me that in the hood Pits are kept on a chain with little food or water. I seriously doubt they ever see a vet.
When he is attacked by one he simply tells the owner "If you don't control your dog I won't be stopping by your mail box on the 15th of the month."

Sure, but that isn't unique to pit bulls. You think she could have controlled a black lab? or a husky? Or a great dane? hell, she probably would have had a hard time with a collie.
She wouldn't have been able to contain other dogs. And there are breeds of dogs that are much more susceptible to wigging out (cattle dogs for instance).
Pit bulls are very trainable and make great pets, but they certainly aren't for everyone.
