Yes. It's also customary that if you have a cajun band, the name has to end with "and the cajun playboys".

I was raised in Cut Off. My grandpa calls everyone Neg. It really is a term of endearment down there. Hell, even I use it sometimes. I just know when not to in some situations

Back in my younger days when I worked in the field out on the pipeline, most of the LA guys from way South of I-10 called everyone this or T-Boy.

That was also about the time I realized that interstate was a major cultural dividing line in this state.
