I’m an airline pilot.

Key West is a very short runway and depending on the type of aircraft and the number of people and baggage, it has restrictions on weights for takeoff.

Key West needs a larger runway, blame it on the airport.

Were these out of family for Key West today?

It is the runway. Had the same issue on a united flight out of williston nd. For that one it was runway and fuel to get to denver.

It only seems like they suck . But if you know that a high quality steak cost $60 and you see one on a menu for $6, you know before you even order that there is a good chance that it’ll be horrible. This is how we should see commercial air travel. Go see what aviation really cost (Net Jets, Wheels Up, etc. ) . Then, you realize that when you pay $400 to fly (psychotically cheap compared to the true cost of aviation) , I’m happy just to get their alive and not vomited on .

Because fat America gets seat belt extenders instead of having to buy two seats.

I would much rather pay three to four times as much but actually get what I prepaid for

OR

Charge my credit card when the flight arrives at my destination on time

But the business model of charging me for something at the time of purchase with basically no responsibility to actually deliver what I purchased is a clown show

Can you imagine sitting down at dinner and ordering the Ossobucco. Then when the food is about to come out for the entire table you're told they don't have Ossobucco so you can chose between grilled fish, lasagna or chicken parm. Okay, I'll have the chicken parm but please only charge me for the chicken parm.

Well, no sir. We're going to charge for the Ossobucco but give you the chicken parm.

Thats not what I wanted.

I know, but thats what we have.

Well why won['t you charge me for what you're giving me.

Well sir, you see you want the chicken parm now and at this time, to have it ready the cost of the chicken parm is equal to what the ossobucco cost an hour ago.

BUT, if you don't want any of it you can have a gift certificate to some back.

Can I have my money back?

Absolutely not.

Gee, thanks...I guess I'll take the $54 chicken parm.

It's also the airports and their crappy handling, baggage loss, security bottlenecks and lousy car rental services.

Everything you say you want in this thread would result in your ticket costing more. Which you would then bitch about until the airline cut out amenities to reduce the cost of your ticket. Which you would then bitch about because the service sucks.

$1000 domestic flights as the standard aren’t palatable. The folks saying they would willingly pay 3-4x the rates today for a better experience are either FOS or rare in number.

Maybe they should turn Flagler into a runway. Live down there and never had an issue taking off. Basically stomp the brakes power up and wheelie.

It’s landing that will shrink your sphincter.

Because the government allows them to suck.

Key West didn’t suddenly become a high temp airport, the runway didn’t suddenly get shorter, and the airlines didn’t suddenly forget how many seats are on the plane. They know all this and still sold the seats and they’ll do the same damn thing tomorrow.

EU airlines aren’t allowed to jerk people around and the experience is much better because of it.

Sitting here in Key West waiting on my flight to board soon for DFW, the desk made an announcement that they need 12 volunteers to delay their travel due to weight restrictions for the flight. This one in particular is American Airlines. Are they trying to haul too much cargo which pays more than passengers?

EYW has a very short runway. With the heat they can't put as much fuel on the plane.

They would pull cargo off first before pulling off bitching arse passengers.

Sometimes airlines can maneuver things in order to take off with a full load but not so much at this airport.

Maybe next time they will take off and you will crash....perhaps then you will understand.

Have flown 6 times to & from Japan on a Japanese airline. Landing in Long Beach & going to the ticket counter, apples to oranges the difference easily noticeable in service. It was almost like they were waiting to argue with you. Landing at the airport in Tokyo, one of the world's largest & most congested, an almost obscenely polite ticket staffer, noticing my confusion, stepped out from behind the counter & took me to the ticket counter I was supposed to be at....a good 15 minute walk. Looking out the window where planes were waiting, the ground crew was lined up doing exercises led by 2 official-looking crew members. Food was fresh & great. Stewardess were all slim & trim & super polite. And this was 16 hr flights. A lot of it is culture, certainly. But there is no excuse / culture issues for the routinely poor performances by American staffers through out the airport & on the planes.

Airline Stewardesses should be female, under 35 years of age, and meet appropriate height and weight standards. That alone would go a long way towards better airline service.

Then what would Big Gay Al do for a living?

I get so tired of working with those drama queen gay flight attendants.
