Why do accountants often go by their middle names?

I'm in the middle of gathering my documents for tax season, and more often than not, every accountant at the firm I use abbreviates the first initial and follows with their middle and last name.

Using some celebrities as an example:

T. Lee Jones
D. Lee Roth
P. Seymour Hoffman
F. Ford Coppola
B. Ray Cyrus

Why is this a thing? If you want to go by your middle name, fine. Why the need for the first initial?

Is Jack your middle name or is it short for Jackothy?

So it’s harder for you to track them down after the IRS audits you and garnishes your wages.

I’m an accountant and I would use a fake name with someone like you.

I find this is much more common with attorney's who use esquire at the end of their name if you know what I'm saying.

I'm an accountant and do this! My reason is because I've always gone by my middle name but if people try to look up my CPA license online, they need to know my first name/initial.

Am an accountant, I trust that OP has a point but I’d like to verify it.

I go by my middle name. When signing things I add my first initial. It helps because you don't know if the recipient has you down as the first name you go by or your legal first name.

It's a catchall

*Not an accountant

This is the answer. You'll also see it on resumes for people who go by their middle name. It's pretty common.

Why do accountants become accountants?

Because they don't have enough charisma to be morticians.

I kid. I kid.

Hide them from the Mafia once they've laundered their money and have a contract on their head.

I don't know about the accountant thing, but the first initial thing is weird AF to me. Like the guy who is the voice of Archer and Bob from Bob's Burgers. He goes by H. John Benjamin. Like, WTF? What's the point?

I go by my middle name because my first name is a family name and brings to mind an old guy. However I've never in my life thought about using my first name initial then my middle and last names. It's just weird.
