I wish the evil of sub-Saharan slavery had never been visited upon this land by its purveyors.

Instead we could have imported Europeans And truly made a new European homeland. Perhaps then we wouldn’t have all the problems we are faced with today due to the evil pall of slavery

Just like today, we don't concern ourselves what will be better for future generations, they were not really concerned about the long term future..

People had different morals... Or morals that were of their time. The idea of buying human beings, forcing them to do labor for free and treating them less than equals is something that I can't understand, but we are all people of our time.

True capitalism doesn't work that way. If you own a business and in order to produce what you are selling, you need the help of others so you hire them, those people then have a job, they are able to buy things, which helps the places they shop at and so on.

Slavery only benefited the owners and was somewhat like a MLM.. in the sense the people on top made all the money and if you were on the bottom there really wasn't any opportunity to gain wealth. Slavery hurt poor whites as well.

Yeah it was over states rights. But let's be honest, the main issue when it came to states rights was slavery.

I never got it. A slave cost around 4-5 years of a workers entire salary. Plus you had to feed and house.

Most employers are paying to feed and house their employers indirectly. That is the point of working.

Every reason you explore though can be whittled down to the subjugation of an entire race of people.

They didn’t. An exit strategy from slavery that would have returned the slaves back to their homelands was in place.

US was the only country on earth that fought a war to end slavery

Not exactly. The US fought to preserve the Union. The Confederacy fought for independence. The root cause was slavery, but Union soldiers didn't sign up in 1861 to free slaves.

It wasnt. Slavery would have gradually ended over next 20 years or so

Right. What's another 20 years in a field doing hard labor without pay after all?

What, you can’t say you support slavery can you?

I am anti-slavery and wish those people never would have been subjected to such horrors.

Because no one from Europe brought over crime. The italian mob.

Who were causing all of the problems during prohibition?

What is the cause of most of the murders in intercities? Its drug related.

It doesn't matter if people are from Europe, Asia, or Antartica, if there is a demand for something illegal, there will be people willing to supply it and when it comes to... Back then.. Alcohol... Today.. Drugs, it will create an environment for violence.
