The same reason ESPN got rid of their comment sections.

They were tired of writing social justice or race hustling articles and then the comment section below being filled with people slamming the article.

No wrongthink allowed. They don't want people to see that a majority of readers disagree with the narrative being pushed.

They are. I think of all the reporters and journalists I have worked with over the years since I started my career in 2011.

There is maybe 1 or 2 total I would consider hanging out with outside of the station. The rest were all smug, arrogant assholes likely bitter about the low pay they receive.

Aren’t 99% of Facebook comments bots anyway?!?

Not that I approve of censorship but I also cringe to think my opinion is Facebook comment worthy (or anyone else’s)

Also comparing turning off Facebook comments to NAZIs real nice

It's not the Facebook comments and you know it. It's silencing opinions period.

And if you don't agree with it then you should mention that to your comrades and/or stop voting for those that support and encourage it.

Comments are being shut down for many publications. I see it as a continuation of polarization in society. “Here’s my viewpoint but I don’t want to see yours.”

Canada is orwellian as frick. You're not allowed to acknowledge that there are ANY lockdown protests going on there. You're supposed to agree that everyone is "In This Together™." They don't even want their people to be able to escape to the United States and see for themselves that Covid is basically over while Canadians are being forced through a second summer of masks and limitations.

I follow several guys who do bushcrafting/camping/canoe trips on youtube, and they can't even go camping because Ontario has completely banned camping. That's right, you're not allowed to go out in the middle of the wilderness, miles away from anyone else. You must stay crammed in to your city or town.

It's a fricking clown show up there.
