Depends on the poor. Some are more ambitious than others. Some are okay with the status quo.

My parents didn't speak english, broke as frick, and lived in a shite 3rd world country. Can't get further than rock bottom, so they wanted to get out of it.

Not everyone has decent parents to raise them to be financially responsible or an inheritance. Sometimes unexpected things like sickness, death, or other tragic circumstances happen. You never really know what someone is struggling with. So much unnecessary judgment in the world.

I wouldn't guess very much. I'd imagine most are born and die in a similar class.

You are showing your stupidity on this one, m’dude.

There are plenty of things outside of one’s control that leads to poverty.

It’s not all individual problems; there are societal, health, and parents factors that one does not choose that affects their outcomes.

Would you tell a person born with Down syndrome or a severe disability that they should just work harder and they will be rich?

The most charitable interpretation is you are referring to individuals who are able bodied, healthy, and had a normal, non traumatic childhood. In those cases, you have some merit.

Forty-two percent of children born to parents in the bottom fifth of the income distribution remain in the bottom. Therefore, 58% move up.

Maybe they are evolved at a level of spiritualty beyond your comprehension and that money is of no consequences. Let me ask you this, how many G Wagons have you seen at a monastery in the Himalayas?

Dumb question.

Of course not. They couldn't understand those concepts.

It's like when a guy asks, "you want your arse kicked"?

Of course not. Stupid question.

It was intentionally hyperbolic to illustrate a point.

Life is a bit more complicated than this board seems to think it is.

You don’t get rich or out of poverty simply be “muh hard work”. It takes some lucky break along the way as well.

People often forget how much luck plays a role in outcomes in life.

Being poor is expensive
Yes.
You pay more for everything.

You pay higher interest rates to finance things.
Your credit score can affect your insurance rate.
You can’t afford that Costco membership so you pay more for food and clothes and gas.
And on and on.

I am surprised no one has started a "why can't the middle class get their shite together" thread and asking why is the middle class stuck and can't get rich.
