The Riverwalk is just a 4 foot deep concrete ditch we got plenty of those just without the concrete

What is so great about that filthy ditch they call a river? It's always full of duck shite.

And yet it’s better than anything BR has to offer.

I remember years ago there was a passing thought of doing some sort of manmade waterway from Perkins Rowe to the Mall of Louisiana with restaurants and shops like the SA Riverwalk. Obviously that never came to fruition.

The MS river is just too expansive and requires such a massive structure around it for containment. They could certainly spruce things up and make it more vibrant, but it'll never be a Riverwalk type deal. Plus, SA is much larger and safer.

What they should be doing in this area is taking advantage of the undeveloped land along the Amite river near the Comite confluence. If I'm Denham Springs, I'm pushing for a greenbelt along the Amite and some cool parks that connects to downtown DS but that's more like what they did in Atlanta.

Been there a couple times, place gives me the claustrophobic heebees. Not to mention it stinks and needs a bleach power washing, the piss, bums, and no place to shite.

The most recent master plan for St Bernard parish calls for something similar. Basically a new concrete canal from St Bernard Hwy to the 40 Arpent canal. Used for drainage but also have water features and have bike/walk paths along it as well as restaurants etc

Not sure if serious.

The Mississippi River is huge and has a huge levee right next to it. It would flood the entire area without the levees. There is no way to duplicate the river walk that runs along the tiny San Antonio River.

I just moved to Thibodaux and was thinking that a development like that would actually be really great along the bayou.

Doubt that area has enough $$ and population to support it, though.

That bike/pedestrian path from Frenchtown in Central all the way to downtown would be interesting. I know a couple of Lance Armstrong types that would probably do that every now and then instead of driving to work.

Something like this would be a huge tourist and economy boom for BR.

BR could build it and it would be nice for locals but BR will never be a tourist town, dont waste your money waiting on that to happen.

Umm... Baton Rouge has Tiger Stadium, the PMAC, and the Box. Those plus Dawson Creek > San Antonio Riverwalk.
