LSU is broke. Haven't you heard?

Now that I got my sarcastic answer out I don't know why they don't do this. It just makes too much sense I guess. I wonder if they are trying to avoid the racially barged answer or would have to pay a king's ransom to get the land

LSU has too much cheap property on the south side if campus. Although they have definitely invested in the Northside since I was there, it's nothing compared to all the complexes built on the south side. Therefore, it's not appealing to have bars on the North Gates, especially with little to no parking.

Not long after I graduated, they were selling one of thone bars (maybe Northgate tavern?). It was only like 250k to buy and had 2 apartments above. Seriously considered investing in it, but I know I'm not going to change a whole college to drink there with some new paint.

Did love when the frat would rent out one of those bars after games though. It'd be packed with a good crowd and awesome location. But you had to rent the damned place out for that atmosphere. Was a shithole any other time.

It is very common practice at many other major universities for them to buy any property that becomes available adjacent to the existing campus, they then rent the property until it is needed for expansion. Purdue has done this forever, the apartments and houses they own off campus are rented to students, they even own the property under a McDonalds and some of the area bars. Never understood why LSU was not doing this.

Pretty sure they have done this on the Nicholson side of Northgates. I guess nothing on the Highland side is for sale that isn't already being grabbed by developers.

The Library and The Bayou were around forever.

When they had the crackdown on that white suburban "gang" 3BM, that killed the crowd on the street. Without the wanna-be's that was it.

The Library closed soon after the crackdown, then Tiger Lilly, then The Bayou.
