Baton Rouge ranks No. 18 on a 2023 list of the best-run cities in the U.S., according to an analysis by WalletHub.
The Capital City placed in the top 20 of the 149 largest U.S. cities in terms of the city’s operating efficiency, which the author calculated by comparing the quality of services provided by the city in six categories to its per-capita spending.
Baton Rouge ranks in the lowest quartile in the categories of health (No. 129), safety (No. 145), economy (No. 135), and infrastructure and pollution (No. 135), while education finished slightly higher (No. 108). Financial stability was the city’s strongest category, where it ranks No. 44.

What buoyed the Capital City into the No. 18 overall spot is its budget per capita, which ranks No. 3 overall. In other words, Baton Rouge spends the third least per capita on the services it provides

Probably because it provides very few “services”

How is this a good thing if the services provided are poorly ranked??

I made this point in the other thread. The budget per capita is completely misleading due to our unified parish/city model. The ranking is taking the city population (222K) and comparing it against the total revenue received from over 300K people in both the city and unincorporated areas.
It’s not legitimate.

Probably collected data from the Holden era. And the city was well run then.

They must have done this survey before they jacked up the water bill.

All you fricks that complain about BR need to come to New Orleans. Teedy laughs at those amateurs running BR.

BR is so "well run" that the Police Union placed "Enter at Your Own Risk" signs all over the city 3 years ago to warn about the utter corruption and incompetency of city leadership. And things have gotten noticeably worse since then, so this Business Report article is pandering bullshite at best.

This is what happens when people who think men can get pregnant write articles and perform "studies".

I see a lot of these "studies" and they're pure BS. Some odd stat always skews things because it's not really a study, just a set of numbers crunched by interns at a magazine or something. IE Clickbait.
Mobile Alabama is often labeled as one of the most violetn cities in America. Like really? GTFOH. There are indeed some rough areas But we stay out of them and that's that. It's not like Chicago or New Orleans where, in the last few years, the violence finds us in our neighborhoods.

I saw that and I read their methodology, but I seriously question their rankings.
We are at or near the bottom in all the major categories, but we are financially sound? It doesn’t add up to a top 20 ranking.

This is laughable. Look at the library budget and tell me that is not corrupt and wasteful.
If they are so well managed why do they have to steal from the residents of St. George who they provide few services to?
There is no way with the unfunded pension that they are financially strong.
Their waste water and flood plan is worthless, so much so they tried to sneak a tax through the city council.
How much did EBR pay to have this article written?

The "services" provided are awful, 4 of the 6 in the bottom 25% of the country with #5 barely edging that out, but hey at least they're cheap
That must mean it's well run!
Right? Right???
