Oh man.

The issue with asphalt repair is the problem normally isn’t with the asphalt surface itself... it’s unstable subgrade underneath.... and fixing that shite is a pain in the arse.

I saw a parish crew filling a pothole in the pouring rain on Antioch Road one day. Needless to say, the pothole was back within 2 days.

I'm convinced that there isn't a single contractor in LA that can join a concrete bridge span and an asphalt road.

The lowest bid wins the contract to build the road. So contractors are always looking to cut costs resulting in sub par roads. Then state workers with 3-4 teeth between 5 of them ride around all day acting like they know how to fix potholes. Louisiana is fricked

There are still roads that were built by the Romans but our fricking roads don't last through the first rainstorm.

Road repair is retarded in the way they do it here. It's a damn safety hazard.

Subsidence man.

The road bed sits on the ground with just imported fill material like rocks or dirt while the bridge is on pilings deep in the earth.

While the road and bridge sink, the road sinks faster causing the bump. South LA is more prone to this than north LA.

There are several poor connections on the new construction between Henderson and Lafayette. Are you telling me subsidence has affected these areas 2 months after construction being completed?

Because local parish police jury and DOT maintenance departments normally handle the patching, and you ain’t necessarily getting the cream of the crop from the hiring pool when the only qualifications are willing work for $8/hr and be able to pass a drug test.

I think in Louisiana the asphalt is poured 18 inches above the driveway.

To make a perfect patch they would have to reheat the hole to remelt the existing asphalt and the add the patch and smooth and flatten then grind/grade it back smooth.

This statement is completely inaccurate

Is this really how Domino's is doing it?

Halfassing their pothole repairs just like their pizzas.

The DOT should've given the contract to Papa John. He's got skin in the game, he doesn't want that antique Z28 rattling apart.
