I live in Texas and don't know a single person that thinks this.

There will be flakes wearing masks for the rest of their lives. It’s another feel safe trinket to help the weak and meek traverse the big bad world .

And the people saying that 99% of the business in Houston not requiring masks is just flat wrong...Most national chains are require/request customers to wear masks because it makes people feel safe (regardless of it is true or not). That has been the theme for most corporations during the pandemic. Safety before service

Some stores require it. It doesn’t bother me to wear one. I don’t feel “controlled.” So I’ll wear one for now until the vaccine is widely issued. If it doesn’t bother you, why are you upset about it? Go without a mask and bask in your “freedom.”

Calling people sheep is beyond just asking questions.

You're all sheep for wearing shirts in public on a warm day.

No two things are the same, but conservatives would be better off if they pivoted towards libertarian philosophies. Progressives are going to out-righteousness you all day every day.

People are already forgetting masks do not prevent you from contracting anything. It prevents you from theoretically spreading the virus.

Bull crap!

Many masks can limit the wearer’s infection of the flu , colds, and other viral illness not to mention allergens.
Certain masks can limit the wearer’s infection from covid-19

I live in the metroplex. I'm in the 4th category. I don't think 99% of the mask-wearing I see in the wild accomplishes anything. I will wear one if the business I'm trying to patronize requires it. I totally enjoy patronizing businesses that don't require one.

It's possible that a properly donned single use N95 mask may protect you from being infected. In my experience in the wild the number of properly donned single use N95 masks is a miniscule fraction of a percentage.

My personal observation is that mask wearing as currently practiced in the wild is theater.

YMMV

Just surprised to see so many people in the Houston area still wearing them after mandates have been lifted

I see more people wearing them since the order was lifted. Even in my hood where you never saw people of color wearing them. Even in a smaller town like Cleveland.

I think it's now cool to rebel against the governor or something.

I wouldn't call League City "the sticks".

I also work in Houston and go to a few different bars/restaurants there.

Most of my clients are in the Houston area as well.

There might be one or two hard core libs that I know that wanted to keep the mandate, but they have not vocalized that opinion to me. I have heard zero people say they wanted the mandates to stay.

Good luck with that. The way they treat libertarians on the Poli board is disgraceful.
