They’re collecting their early retirements and benefits. Like ALL government workers they’re pretty pathetic and lazy and want your money. Rispone needs to change government workers benefits so that they can’t retire till 67 like most folk.

They have been reduced to revenue generators. Speeders and seat belt violation tickets are easy money.

If they aren't parked to shoot that radar gun or giving out a ticket, they are driving 95-100 to go fellate JBE.

Growing Number of LA Town Rely on Speeding Tickets

Louisiana is poor.

It is a tax basically that the poor has to pay too. They usually have to pay it more because they cannot afford Legal Representation, Cars that meet inspection, Late fees on fines, etc etc.

*Right outside Shreveport where speed limit goes from 70-75
*South of Natchitoches hiding in the trees in the median
*St Landry Parish -- around those three or four bridges just north of Opelousas
*Occasionally South of Alec
*Right before Kings Truck stop on 190
*the base of the bridge across from Kartchners in Krotz Springs
*Livonia
*Always 2-3 between BR and Nola

That about it? Did I miss any?

Revenue generation from an already overtaxed, poor population.

Wish the cops would do something useful with that time like pick up all the trash on the sides of the road

The Bossier Parish Police Jury has a commercial vehicle enforcement clan of police officers to harass and extort fines from log trucks and other commercial vehicle operators. These dudes are dressed in full SWAT gear, vests, guns, etc. to carry out their truck inspection duties.

They are on the interstate everywhere in my parts to help deter interstate driveby shootings. Yes. I am for real. I cruised by one the other day doing 85 in a 55 along with 47,000 others. no blue lights.

I've lived in other states. State Police have a highway patrol, but the majority of their responsibilities were to assist rural counties with manpower.

For example, some rural counties may only have two detectives assigned to the sheriff's office. A murder case is an enormous burden for that department so State Police detectives often help out.

In Louisiana, State Police are rent-a-cops. They have one job, and that's to patrol highways. Louisiana has a horrific traffic related death problem, so that's where they are utilized.

Cash grab, always going to be speeders to pull over. I-10 is a big drug interstate. Local police & sheriffs get on the interstate in their areas which are already patrolled by state police. I have Zero law enforcement experience but if I had a choice of driving around all day on an interstate & choosing who to pull over rather than neighborhood presence responding to calls, I’d be an interstate tax collector too.

I’m a boring white guy who drives the speed limit so I’m pretty much invisible to the police. I don’t pay much concern to them either in return.

Louisiana state troopers are the most overpaid waste of tax dollars this state has. They are simply glorified ticket writers, whom the state could definitely do without

Twice this week I saw LSP get behind a left lane camper. Rice their arse then give up and pass on the right. Never pull them over. Pisses me off.
