I asked the same question when Oprah’s race lecture was on about 15 channels 2 nights in a row. Every channel owned by Discovery had it on

Viacom has been doing this for years. The ratings for these award shows have gotten so low that they've decided to broadcast them on all the channels they own in the hopes it will improve the ratings. It never does.
