I have never had any desire to go to DW. Just isn't my idea of a vacation. I'm sure I could/would have fun, it just is about #564 on the list of places that I would want to go before I die.

But I also have a daughter now, and a wife that loved going to DW as a child, so I'm sure we will be going in a few years.

Oh well.

Meeting the character at Disney on Ice or on Disney Cruise provides the same level of excitement. Just saying.

It's really for the grandparents and other relatives. Sure, the child won't remember it, but family will remember it for life.

Good fricking question.

I'll meet grown women without children that love to go to Disneyland. I don't get it.

Maybe the only thing I'd hate more than being at Disney World would be trapped on a boat that is basically Disney World.

I'm the kind of guy that either wants to do remote beach vacations, mountain cabins, or travel the world.

Why people who dislike Disney keeps coming back is more of a mystery to me.

I don't have a problem with people not liking or even hating it, I find it to new fun, but love other things for vacation more. What I find odd are the people calling Disney fans "freaks" and "weird". Maybe they just don't get that the place was designed as a destination resort city, not a kiddie park.

And sure there are people that take Disney vacations and their fandom overboard, but that's the case for just about everything that anyone enjoys. Been to the recruiting board?

I thought I'd hate Disney more than I did on our last trip, the previous one I struggled with a BOB stroller way too much to enjoy myself. Last one though we stayed were we could see the animals off our balcony, and my son spent a bunch of time out there. It wasn't terrible. I wasn't immensely entertained, but we had some good times to look back on. Driving the family out west to go offroading and hiking was fifteen million times better, but it also took a great deal of effort and planning. Disney is a low hanging...OK yes I'm entertained so you don't bug me...trip. The characters are a bit stereotypical and all of the wedding couples looked like complete idiots.

I remember riding Space Mountain at that age, remember being terrified the entire time. Was my second time going to DW(first time when I was 4 and have no memory of it).

If I have a child I'll def take them at least once to Disney World or Disney Land(that is the more popular choice here since it's like a 5-6 hour drive away). But it's just not my style (or my husband's style) to vacation the same place every single year. The world is too big with too many amazing things to see than to go to an artificially made up place centered around a mouse every single year.

Yeah I agree. Who cares what people do for fun if they aren't harming others?

They are spending money in America's economy too so I am actually very happy they are doing it.

Just not for me and I'll never do it. I'm sure some people think I'm crazy for liking to go to remote mountain cabins without any TV for a week.

Not even close for the Disney on Ice. She's done this, and it is not nearly the same thing. Serious question, but do you have a daughter that you've taken to both Disney World and Disney on Ice? Maybe your kid is different.

We haven't been on a Disney cruise, but she may enjoy that just as much. But that would be even more expensive for us than Disney World itself.

Its the people, not the activities.

I have taken one cruise and it wasn't for me. I really don't enjoy crowds except for sporting events or concerts that I really want to see.

this

and kids can/will enjoy this as well

we never went to any theme parks as kids, we always went on long arse road trips to the mountains when I was a kid and we all loved it

kids can have fun almost anywhere new

Besides....if you are gonna possibly have to poop in a bucket somewhere for a few days....wouldn't you rather it be off in the mountains somewhere?

I've been on 2 cruises and I would possibly go again if it was the right cruiseline, circumstances, etc. My husband has never cruised and has no desire to ever do so. And seeing news stories of all the people getting sick on cruises has only made him more determined to never go

I like remote beach vacations and traveling the world as well, but I also understand that those things are just a viable vacation option for me and my family every time we want to do something. So all those things surely fit into our calendar and planning but it doesn't mean that I can't enjoy Disney as well. I don't think people have to be divided so decisively into either being a Disney freak or only getting waterfront bungalow in Fiji. There's a lot of room for both options and plenty of opportunities for crossover and it's okay to like both and do both.

I think the OP is talking about the people that ONLY go to DW every year.
