People are increasingly stupid and like trashy things.

Lads like me with very high IQ, zero tats and preference for superior music like classical and EDM (not rap and pop) is increasingly rare.

Never got one because there is no artwork I wouldn’t get tired of looking at over time. Plus, if I found a flaw in the artwork it would annoy be forever.

A shoulder tattoo or a few well placed ones isn’t horrible, it’s not me but lots of people are into things that I’m not into, so no big deal. It’s probably just being a little impulsive and probably some peer pressure.

The face tats, ear lobe stretching, face like a pin cushion, and stuff like horns implanted under the skin is the stuff I just can’t understand what is going on in their brains when those decisions are being made.

That would be my biggest fear. I used to do a lot of visual art and I know id be super critical of the outcome

Yes. It was back in the seventies and eighties.

I have tattoos but they are easily covered and aren’t very noticeable to begin with. They are all things that I designed and have personal meaning to me, I wouldn’t ever just get some random shite picked off a wall that hundreds of other people have. But I’d never get them on my forearms…and definitely not above my shoulders. That’s as crazy to me as it is to people who don’t like tattoos at all.

That’s a new one on me I didn’t realize there were shops that employed anesthesiologists.

The same as the person with the arm sleeve tat, just a little more trashy!

Being subjected to seeing that shite everywhere is awful.

Go back to your shanties.

Dude getting a tatto on your wrist does not mean you have a problem. Much less so much that you need to go to school for 10 years because of it. Are you really that out of touch with reality? I don’t mean that in a mean way but to look down on something so simple that much is kind of ridiculous.

From what I have gathered it started with celebrities. They can do entire back pieces for example with multiple artists working at the same time. Dak got the one on his leg under anesthesia. You have to be well off though because it can't be cheap.

Ah yes, we need more time to research this brand new fad of tattoos

That’s adorable. You think it’s been heavily studied?

When it was limited to circus carnies, nobody gave a shite.

As the FDA states, “due to other competing public health priorities and the lack of prior evidence of safety issues specifically associated with these pigments, the FDA has not traditionally exercised regulatory authority over color additives in pigments used in tattoo inks.”

Now that otherwise clean white people are getting them, it’s getting looked at.

What are the preliminary results?
Tattoo inks are toxicological risks to human health: A systematic review of their ingredients, fate inside skin, toxicity due to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, primary aromatic amines, metals, and overview of regulatory frameworks
quote:

Abstract

Today, tattooing has become very popular among people all over the world. Tattooists, with the help of tiny needles, place tattoo ink inside the skin surface and unintentionally introduce a large number of unknown ingredients. These ingredients include polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), heavy metals, and primary aromatic amines (PAAs), which are either unintentionally introduced along with the ink or produced inside the skin by different types of processes for example cleavage, metabolism and photodecomposition. These could pose toxicological risks to human health, if present beyond permissible limits. PAH such as Benzo(a)pyrene is present in carbon black ink. PAAs could be formed inside the skin as a result of reductive cleavage of organic azo dyes. They are reported to be highly carcinogenic by environmental protection agencies. Heavy metals, namely, cadmium, lead, mercury, antimony, beryllium, and arsenic are responsible for cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, lungs, kidneys, liver, endocrine, and bone diseases. Mercury, cobalt sulphate, other soluble cobalt salts, and carbon black are in Group 2B, which means they may cause cancer in humans. Cadmium and compounds of cadmium, on the other hand, are in Group 1 (carcinogenic to humans). The present article addresses the various ingredients of tattoo inks, their metabolic fate inside human skin and unintentionally added impurities that could pose toxicological risk to human health. Public awareness and regulations that are warranted to be implemented globally for improving the safety of tattooing.

Research on Potential Long-Term Health Effects of Tattooing

quote:

Surprisingly little is known about the long-term health effects of tattooing, which has become a global trend in recent decades.

quote:

In addition to the acute exposure to chemicals in the solvent portion, a harmful systemic long-term exposure to the pigment portion is likely. Over time and through light-induced fading, 60–90% of the pigment portion is transported from the skin to the lymph nodes and potentially other organs. Clear evidence of the absorption of the pigment portion into the body and its transportation within the body is provided by the macroscopically visible inks in pathological examinations of nearby lymph nodes. The extent to which the pigment portion of tattoo ink is transported to other organs via the lymphatic system or the blood is unexplored in humans. However, the first evidence has come from studies in animals. After the subcutaneous injection of tattoo inks, colour pigments originating from the pigment portion of the ink have been detected in diverse organs. Titanium dioxide was found in the liver, spleen, and lungs, and red and black tattoo ink particles were found in the liver. This slow release could lead to a constant low-dose internal exposure to these substances, which may not be detectable with current measurement techniques.

Tattoos and lymphoma: possible effects on the immune system?

The chronic exposure of the lymphatic tissue and potentially other organs to tattoo inks is very likely.
