I am not one to stereotype people and think "oh yeah, all of those people are this way", but I will tell you this. I have.. Let's say "step-family" who lives in Kentucky. It's my mom's husband's daughter. She is from here, but her husband is from Kentucky, which is where they live.

When they come down all they do is just hang around. They live in a rural area and the town they live just outside of.. From what I understand, it doesn't even have a McDonald's. And there is a grocery store, but they have to drive like 45 mins away to do "a big grocery trip". I figured since they live in the middle of nowhere, they don't have frick to do so it makes for an extremely dull life.. So that's how they adapted.

They kids don't have any other kids to play with except for when their cousins go visit. They have a little boy that's like 9 or 10 and you put that kid in backyard with a tuberware bowl and that little frick will entertain himself for hours trying to catch crickets, but they are the most boring people I think I ever been around.

I don't find my fellow Kentuckians dull. Most I know are hard working, love their families and just live each day.

Kentucky doesn't have a large city like other SEC states have. No Nashville, Atlanta, etc. Lexington is small with no real night life downtown, and Louisville is just a dirty city. The country side though is stunningly beautiful. I live in the middle of horse country and it's some of the prettiest land I've seen.

And those from the eastern part of the state are drugged up all the time.

They have a word for that, I think it's step-sister.

Bowling Green?

I would move there if I had the chance. Bowling Green is really a beautiful area and only an hour from Nashville.

In fairness to me, I didn't read your posts before posting.

I drive to Hazard and Pikeville every now and then. It's amazing, the countryside has many million dollar homes, but the cities are mostly depressing.

There are major drug problems in the eastern part of the state.

I think Kentucky is pretty cool... A laid back state... Hillbilly music is pretty good IF you LOOK for it...

Shut your whore breathed mouth. Plenty of good folks from Kentucky. I'm actually looking at some property about 45 minutes NE of Lexington. Now the people in the state due south of Kentucky are the nastiest, most vile creatures that walk the face of the earth. Nashville is cool because many and most that live their are from out of state.

I'm not sure why they are dull, but I will add my personal observation: there are some really oddly-shaped people in Kentucky.

I spent one night in Kentucky, and it was like visiting Mos Eisley Spaceport.

I have two friends from Lexington who are great people. They drink Bulleit bourbon by the barrel and have another incredible house on the Cumberland River. I can enjoy time with them.

I'm actually looking at a few different places in Casey county SW of Lexington not NE. I'm trying to make sure the drive is reasonable and within 1-1/2 of Nashville. I'm open to any suggestions. I want some pasture/ row crop with the rest hardwoods, moderately hilly with barns or large workshop in place and a nice creek to fish and canoe.

You don't ask for much. You are looking in a good area though.
