This is right around the time that HS students began being inundated with 24/7 social media for their formative years. Every kid has a phone, multiple accounts, etc.

10 years earlier I was in HS and we had gossip, conflict, etc. but we also shared phones with our parents, had one computer for the house, and 100 texts a month.

Different cultures have always been at war. And the US is full of cultures.

FALSE.

in 2011 the Obama admin changed what they defined as "school shooting"...just like they changed "enemy combatant" to mean kids over 6 yrs old to lower the civilian casualties from Obozos drone killing.

Why isn't mexico in that graphic.

Countries not listed did not have a single reported incident...

So yes, like psycho cptBengal has pointed out, some countries don't report anything relible at all

However, these are mainly shitty arse countries that we really shouldn't be comparing ourselves too.....

55% of the worlds population is represented in that graph

Here is a link for the data

I would like to know more of the metric used to cherry pick the "World" countries. I'm not saying that we don't have a problem, but skewed statistics on a fancy graph aren't going to prove or show anything.

Is that "statistic" hand picking countries that serve it's purpose of making it seem like US is the only place in the world with this problem.

Mexico and lot of countries known for gun-related homicide rates far above our aren't included on that list. Also, most of the listed countries do a very poor job of tracking criminal statistics as a whole compared to ours. Here, we have organizations that list shootings that are even in the vicinity of a school as "school shooting". People who post such things generally care more about the rhetoric they believe in than the facts put into proper context.

Along else everything else above..

Kids used to get in fights at school with there fists. Now they go find a gun.

I also don't think there is more evil in this world but with social media and the 24 hour news cycle, these things get amplified and become a "normal" thing, so we get this copy cat effect.

It isn't something you can just pinpoint on one issue.

I think it is a combination of things:

1.) American's abstinence to addressing and helping mental health issues.
2.) Gun control and policy
3.) The cultural hodgepodge we all live in.

Dude, no matter how you slice it there are more school deaths due to violence in the US than any other developed country. Silly to argue to the data here.
