Why are people nervous about the eclipse?

It’s only going to get dark in the path it’s going and it’s only for a few minutes. I have heard people say a lot of crazy stuff about it the last few weeks and I don’t understand what is there to be nervous about?

I don't know anyone nervous about it, but it's a rare phenomenon which many people want to observe.
