because the readership of paper media is declining...same costs with less readers equals higher prices.

Amazon has specials, like $5 a yr. I got some handyman magazine. Could find everything for free online, but its good reading material once a month.

I haven't read a magazine in a few years. You're paying for both of us.

Magazines and other print mediums are still very important. Neurologists have shown simply don't learn as well when reading a computer screen.

That's why I love the print edition of the OT.

The one thing about magazine subscriptions that just doesn't make sense anymore is how long it takes to get the first issue. If you subscribe today, you'll be lucky to get your first issue by the end of the year. There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to ship you the most current issue in 3-5 days, and immediately add you to the distribution list for the next month.

Magazine subscriptions have gotten dirt cheap. I guess they still try to go for whole retail price at the checkout stand. But you could probably get a year subscription for the price of a couple issues at the store.

It really does suck. There are times I like to have one for a trip or something but I am not paying 8.99 for a magazine.

That's because they are almost cover to cover adds with little content.

The e-version of National Geographic is so much better than print. The way they incorporate videos is excellent. I could never go back to the print version.
