re: Why are Dodge Ram pickup trucks looked down upon on this board?

I’ve wondered the same thing. From the looks of construction sites, plants, and other industrial type locations it seems that the Ram 2500 is more common than the other 3. Might be what I see and not the norm.

Just dumped off an F-250 king ranch that I was expecting to get around 250k out of, was the biggest pos I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned a few Fords, spent enough repairing it between 100-120k to buy a new half ton.
Everyone I know that’s had a Ford diesel in the past 10 years had major issues.

I was surprised, I did have the 6.0 though and found out it was especially bad, went back to the gas engine, king ranch leather was the poorest quality leather I’ve seen in a vehicle too

Because what one truck owner owns is simply the best and everything else sucks donkey dicks.

Because in the 90’s when every car had garbage interior and mediocre reliability, the Ram 1500 dash cracked and transmission blew...so it got a bad rep. They make good trucks now, as does everyone.

LOL...okay. Only a little hyperbole there huh? I’d be more inclined to believe you had you said transmission. The old 545/645rfe was not great. The hemi motor has been a very reliable platform since they (re)introduced it in 2003.

Dodge doesn’t make the Ram. Fiat does.

I've owned 3 Rams, a GMC and a Ford. I've never really had any major issues with any of them. The brand fanboys are clowns.

Ram trucks, just like any other Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge vehicle have been shite on for a long time when it comes to electrical and cosmetic problems. The utility versions of Jeeps and Rams are great vehicles IMO.

We had a fleet of about 50 of them at my old job. They are absolute pieces of shite, especially the 1500’s

I owned 2 Rams, a 2004 and 2007. After driving them, I swore off Rams because of all the things you hear about. Cracking dashboards, etc plus the rearend went out on the ‘07. Have a Tundra now and was going to get a new one because they are so bulletproof, but the new Rams are very appealing to me. I can say even with the issues I had with my Rams, the gas mileage was good, the ride was really good, and they could tow the shite out of everything I pulled. I love the reliability of my Tundra but the gas mileage sucks and the interior is dated. Haven’t made a decision, but will give the Ram a shot.

Maybe because they're a Chrysler product. I've never been impressed with any of their stuff. They're stuff became rattletraps early in their lives.
I had two 2 dodge cars. When I bought GMC truck it was night and day difference. No rattles even past 150k miles. I was amazed.

Wait til you put something weighing 200+ pounds in the back and it squats until it hits the stops

The third word in your subject line is the problem
Even though they removed Dodge from the brand they will never shake the past

Night and day difference from 2007 to now with the Rams. I’ve owned a 2004, 2011 and now have a 2015. No dash cracking and no blown transmissions on any of them.

I put a whole pallet of cypress mulch in the bed several times and it rode fine. Of course, maybe that’s what made the rear end go out. Who knows.

My Tacoma with 168k on it doesn’t even do that

Lies. I haul 2-3 dirtbikes in the back of mine almost every weekend. Bikes, plus gear, ramps, gas, canopy, we are around 600+ lbs with no noticeable squat.
I have a '14 1500 Lonestar with 40k miles. I haven't had a single issue out of it outside of the 1 time it was wrecked from someone pulling out in front of me.
I had an 07 Tundra TRD with the 5.7l and will say is was a more solid truck though. Not as nice as the Ram, didn't ride as well, worse gas mileage, but more solid and felt like it was built better.
My next truck will likely be another Tundra, but that will be a while since I put less than 5k miles annually on my truck now.
