Doctors and Shrinks get kickbacks and big $$ from Big Pharmaceutical for trials and prescriptions to their patients they care so much about. Wink Wink

Big pharma. Plus there are quite a few doctors who don’t listen — they are on a timeline to see their next patient or have become numb —-and like everything else, they write a prescription for it.
The root of the issue is still not being addressed, which is why mental health often goes misdiagnosed or untreated correctly.

Because parents don't spank their children.

To keep you coming back.
Dr: How do you feel on your new medicine?
Patient: OK. Good days and bad days
Dr: OK. I’ll double your dose. See you in three months.
Rinse and repeat

Because people want an instant fix and don’t want to do the work to get to the root of the issue.
There are definitely folks who need them. And depending on the SSRI, some are used for “off label” like nerve pain (and I don’t know that the chart in OP differentiates). But there are a fair amount on them that don’t need to be.

Easier to take a pill than work on yourself. Similar to these weight loss shots, everyone wants path of least resistance vs working for it.
It’s the sad reality of our generation.

50 years of " putting the poon on a pedestal"

Because people in this country are sad, doctors still think they are the most effective method of treatment (with exercise), and they are incentivized to push them.
I don't think there is anything nefarious most of the time. It's just a bad mix of circumstance.

I think a lot of the factory food we eat had it’s part in it.

At least in my case I started them about a year ago and it’s made a world of difference. I’m like a different person now. But I’m on a very minimal dose. I pay like .30 cents a month for them lol.

I don't know a single person that has taken ADs and ended up happy. Honestly, a lot of them seem more miserable.

True. A lot of doctors are just modern-day pill pushers.

I'm honestly surprised it's not higher.

But, an invite to a "conference" where no real work done.
They party.
Maybe bring family along..
