I’m in the market for one, but I don’t necessarily need it right away. I currently drive a 2006 GMC Sierra with 140k miles. I’m looking to upgrade to 2015ish used truck but the prices right now are ridiculous. 35-40k for tundras in that range. Rams are a little cheaper. I don’t care much for Fords.

I’m thinking maybe the play is trade in and lease in the short term until prices come back down to Earth?

Anyone have opinions on the market right now?

Everybody. Been that way for a while now. If you want a deal on a new vehicle, get a sedan.

My barber had an immaculate 2014 Silverado LTZ.

Bought in 2020 with 110,000 miles on it.

He commutes almost 50 miles each way. Truck now had 146,000 miles

Last month Mountain View Chevrolet in Chattanooga hounded him to sell the truck. He said he didn't have time to go down there.

"Send us some pictures." He did.

Based on the pictures. They offered him $13,000. more than he paid in 2020.

Mountain View Chevrolet became the proud new owners of his truck.

Thought this was going to be a word problem from school.

Why lease and not just keep driving your current vehicle? If you want a “play” it would be to find a vehicle that’s cheap and trade in for it. But are any vehicles good deals right now?

I just traded in my 2007 Silverado classic with 130k on it. They gave me more than I thought they would. They are paying top dollar on trade ins, because there is not the availability of new vehicles.

Not a bad idea if what you are driving is worth something but the trade in difference on a 15 year old truck isn’t going to be worth it

My understanding is that as long as it isn't a truck or suv a good deal can be made. I have a 2019 Big Horm Ram 1500 v6 quad cab with 36k miles that I paid $28.5k after a ton of rebates. Trade-in is $32k which is crazy. Considering selling it and driving my little Ranger a while until prices get real again.

I just bought a truck less than a month ago. Took my time and drove full size crew cab Ford, GMC, Chevy, and Ram. Those were the only ones I drove due to company vehicle allowance terms. The Ram 1500 Bighorn was the one that really impressed me the most from a power, features, and comfort standpoint so that’s what I went with.

In getting offers for 3-5k more than I paid for my 2018 3/4 ton

No Brainer to sell it except there's no decent deals to be had on a replacement.

When I was shopping for my truck a few weeks ago I noticed used late model trucks were virtually the same price as new trucks. It’s nuts.

My truck is worth 8k more than it was this time last year but I looked for a new one and can’t find anything I want.

Terrible time to buy. Sure you can get good money for your trade in. Then what? So few options to buy a new one you pay too much to replace your truck that was most likely already paid for
