The problem is the people who support keeping the statues up, also have the most to lose. I'd come out strongly against and maybe even go out there, but as a professional I don't want my face/name plastered on social media. It's the unfortunate part of social media is that even though our freedom of speech has been expanded with social media, it's actually been greatly diminished by those cabals of jackals who twist words and make people into pariahs overnight.

There's not going to be a big confrontation at Lee Circle. It would be cool if it happened, but the race war isn't starting tomorrow at Lee Circle. I bet 90% of those people on that guys FB aren't even coming to Nola.

Every time you have a huge push to the left or right, there is an equal or greater push back the other direction.
The Klan happened because fringe whites felt powerless to stop change. Over time, more and more people identified with the cause.
While I hope this doesn't happen again, only a fool can ignore the trend toward extremism.
It's only a matter of time before that organization begins to gain strength again, or worse, another one takes it's place.
It isn't going to be completely divided along racial lines, but it is definitely going to lean that direction.
