I can stop during the week. Weekends.

Give me 3 days off work and I'm firing from both barrels of Absolut

Does posting on Tigerdroppings help you, encourage you to drink or make no difference?

We have a daughter who has been abusing drugs for a long time. The only time that she is sober is when she is in a lockdown treatment facility. Since she is over 18, she can leave treatment at any time even against medical advice. I feel for you and your family since addiction hurts all.

Me removing drug addicts from my circle worked wonders

if AA works, it's usually b/c AA replaces the social circle

"addiction" has a lot of components to it (previous trauma, social anxieties, hormonal imbalances, OCD traits) but the only way you can stop is avoiding the people who will make you relapse. that's why AA is so culty for the people it's working for

<--------- Raises hand.

A little over 24 years and about 32 of the last 34 years.

B&B, I know how much you love your son. I hope your drinking does not result in you losing your visitation with him. Good luck, but I believe that even drinkers would think you are on a dangerous path. I sincerely hope you can turn it around.

Every person I ever met in NA was just obviously scheming constantly. Different class of people, I just never felt right in the rooms.
But ya the biggest thing for me was just stop associating with other addicts and unfortunately that meant having to change career paths all together

yeah the only reason my brother ended up staying sober finally was b/c we left him in jail in Lafayette and then eventually his friend group in LC forgot about him and he was able to make a clean break. never came back. the only person he ever visits is another clean friend from that friend group. they're the only ones still alive (3 others died)

I never really had “using friends” just acquaintances so it was pretty easy for me to just never talk to them again. Going to a real medically assisted detox facility and IOP was also a huge help as it really drove home what kind of people are drug addicts, The actual dregs of society for the most part. Took me realizing I needed help in the first place though

my dad was really big into AA and it really was like a cult. all of his friends had to be in recovery and his group would do like getaways and bring kids who had never met before and try to force us to be friends

first time i ever played truth or dare. there were 2 girls and i picked the wrong one to dare to kiss. classic Jake shite at around 12 years old

Obviously, you don't understand addiction.

the human race, generally, doesn't understand addiction

that's why we still rely on NA/AA when "the program" is not that effective (some data sames as good/slightly worse than no treatment) but is so popular
