The Junk Yard Dog. I was a 6-year-old white kid in South Louisiana in 1982, living in the suburbs, sporting a t-shirt with a black man on it. The Dog brought people of all colors and backgrounds together once a week at the Riverside Centroplex, man. We could still learn a lot studying JYD.

Same here with Roy Rogers.
When I was 5 years old I'd want to wear my pistols and cowboy hat during lunch. My mom would explain that even Roy Rogers takes his hat and pistol belt off at the table. Didn't keep me from having a Derringer up my sleeve though...was also a James West fan.

Chuck Yeager. A WWII & Korean War ace & first to break the sound barrier. Great leader was pretty laid back with no ego. Serve in t(e military for 33 years after enlisting in the US Army as a private, ascending to an Air Force General. Still alive at 97.
