Do you people not understand that we have no idea what part of the curve we're on? There are an increasing number of cases because there are an increasing number of tests being done. There are increasing deaths because there are increasing confirmed cases, which circles back to the increasing tests.
No one can say how rampant the virus was 6+ weeks ago. It wasn't being tested for.
ETA: The mortality rate of confirmed cases is dropping in the US. This is a positive trend.

Huh, so an unexplained sickness spread through my entire family at our annual Presidents’ Day weekend trip to Florida.
It was odd in that none of the kids got sick. Just the adults. At the time everyone was just happy as there were no sick kids to deal with.
It was bad enough for my dad that he went to the hospital where he tested negative for pneumonia.
The more I think about it, the more it seems plausible

Last Saturday, March 7, I started feeling a fever coming on while driving to MSY. Got to work and could not stop coughing. I went home at midnight and I had a fever of 100.5 F.
Woke up last Sunday morning with a fever of 101.5 F. Had to miss work Sunday afternoon. Sunday night, took two Tylenol and Monday, my temperature was 99.2F at noon. That was the end of the fever but a week later, I still have coughing issues but no fever this afternoon.
Fever duration ~ 48 hours.
Maximum fever : 101.5 F
Coughing still going on but not as bad.

It is estimated that 360,000 Chinese students are enrolled at US universities. It’s perfectly reasonable to assume that when all of those individuals (many of which traveled home during Christmas break) came back to school in January this virus came back with them and started spreading. We didn’t really hear about it until the nursing home incident.

They don’t know this for sure either. You do realize that, since they weren’t testing, the virus could have been here for several months, correct?
There’s just as much speculation that it’s been here since November 2019 as any other zero patient.
Point is, you don’t know. Making statements of fact is ignorant.

My 19-year-old daughter (no pics) recently had some sort of virus that had terrible effects on her breathing. She went out with a few friends on the weekend of Feb. 22. On Tuesday night, Feb. 25, she called me and told me she felt terrible—body aches, fever, chills, dry cough. On the morning of Feb. 26, she went to the urgent care clinic. Flu test was negative, so they did blood work, which indicated that she definitely had a virus. Since all of her symptoms coincided with flu, they prescribed Xofluza, prednisone, and cough syrup with codeine. Daughter decided to come home from college to convalesce.
During her time at home, I basically Lysoled the hell out of anything she touched. (SOP in my house when someone gets sick.). Meanwhile, the cough would not stop. It was awful.
On Saturday, Feb. 29, I drove her to local urgent care clinic. (I made her wear a mask in the car and Lysoled after she got out.). The NP at urgent care said her “flu” had progressed to bronchitis and that she was wheezing terribly. She had not had a bout with asthma in years before that. The NP prescribed an antibiotic, two different types of inhalers, and a lower dose of steroid (since the prednisone made her crazy and she wouldn’t take it any more). She still had fever at this point.
March 1, she woke up not running a fever any more. Still coughing, but not quite as bad. She drove back to school that night.
March 2-5, she was back in class to catch up on her classes. She had two big tests to make up. Meanwhile, she was still coughing and having trouble catching her breath after walking to class. No fever. Completely exhausted. Skipped all her sorority stuff that week and did nothing but school and sleep. She also did not go work out at OTF, which is indicative of how bad she felt, since she is religious about going to her 5 AM OTF workouts.
She still was coughing and had trouble catching her breath, so she went to the student health center on Wednesday, March 4. The doctor said her wheezing was still bad and asked her if she’d gotten a chest x-ray, which she had not. The doctor told her to keep using the inhalers and steroids and to come back again if she didn’t improve in a couple of days.
She finally started feeling better and came home for Spring Break. She’s been pretty normal since then—just an occasional cough. She still needs to use her inhaler, though. She went to Destin to meet a few friends and went to baseball games at MGM Park on Tuesday and Wednesday. Seems to be on the mend.
Did she have Covid-19? I don’t know. No one in her circle had traveled to an affected area recently, so it is doubtful. Still, the thought has occurred to us. Neither my husband nor I ever got sick, but I am religious about disinfecting everything and minimizing contact when someone in the house gets sick. We’ll probably never know if she had it unless they come out with a titer test that can show if a person has had it and recovered.

It’s possible with me for sure. Had the flu shot, caught the worse sickness I’ve ever had about three weeks ago. Throwing up mucus, high fever, chills, last for about 5 days..

Me and my son both got sick and tested negative in February for flu. Wife never showed a sign of sickness. So I think we did honestly

Me.
Had an unexplainable spike in fever with bronchitis, which I rarely ever get. I got tested for flu and came back negative.

Same here. Tested negative for the flu. Felt like crap for a week. I think it has been here. It is just a bad case of the flu. If you’re elderly or have compromised immune system or lung problems, then it can be deadly. I don’t think it is any worse situation than the flu. I think the governor and others are overreacting. Time will tell.

I posited the same thing talking with my wife the other day.
I got flu like symptoms and a 24-48 hour fever not unlike I tend to get once a year with the spring season about 3 weeks ago.
Except this time it was accompanied by terrible coughing fits so bad I damn near broke a rib from all of the coughing. Chest was sore for a week afterwards.
In hindsight the respiratory symptoms seemed more aggressive than typical flu for me.
I got flu like symptoms and a 24-48 hour fever not unlike I tend to get once a year with the spring season about 3 weeks ago.
Except this time it was accompanied by terrible coughing fits so bad I damn near broke a rib from all of the coughing. Chest was sore for a week afterwards.
In hindsight the respiratory symptoms seemed more aggressive than typical flu for me.

I had fever and chest congestion for three weeks in January. I was popping Mucinex and Sudafed like skittles. I really thought I had pneumonia. But my fever was never consistent and never really high, just 100 or so. So I drank green tea, bourbon, sat at home and rest, and got over it. I honestly really do think I had COVID-19 but I dunno. I never got tested.
February I had another flare up but only lasted for a few days and I didn't feel near as bad for that. Since then I've been fine.

Feb 25th Just felt generally bad, no fever
Feb 26th Runny nose
Feb 27th and 28th runny nose turns into massive head congestion
Feb 29th congestions started to subside….then the cough
Been coughing since, last few days has really let up though.
Ironically I was really germ conscience in Mid Feb, I work in the food industry so I was washing and hand sanitizing a lot because in my spirit I was real worried about getting sick. But since getting this thing I’ve been super cavalier about it, even in light of the events. Sure the thought has crossed my mind I could have had it….that is just it, we don’t even know how many people have already had this damn thing and been done with it and we will never know.

I went to the doctor in January with a low grade fever, body aches, and a nagging cough. I tested negative for flu and the doc said I had some sort of virus and that he’d seen a bunch of people that week that had similar symptoms and tested negative for flu
It hung around about 5-7 days but I felt like shite.
I'm still fighting what I call a 'head cold'. Really, a sinus infection produced by Georgia pollen. Third year in a row.
Never happened to me prior (although I've lived in Georgia eight years, and for six or seven, between undergrad and work).
It's lasting longer this year, but then again, I've not gone to the doctor, and am fighting it without antibiotics or steroids.

Flew out of Nola and went to Seattle January 8th. My friends with me made some comments about an asian guy with a cough sitting in front of us on the plane.
Well, 2 days later into the trip we all get chills, fever, and dry cough. Was the worst I’ve felt in a while. Went to the doc and got a steroid shot in the butt and was good to go after 2 days.
Pretty crazy looking back at this now.
