I think he always denied killing the kids. But it's a near certainty he was the one doing it, because the child murders stopped immediately after he was picked up. When he was arrested at the bridge, a body was found shortly afterwards in the vicinity, as I remember it.

Charlotte Pace the the roommate. Gina Green was the lady that lived off Stanford. CMP et al used to live by Green and just moved to Tigerland.

Found this on Wayne Williams wiki page. An excerpt from everbodies favorite Netflix series.

Former FBI profiler John E. Douglas wrote in his book Mindhunter that in his opinion, "forensic and behavioral evidence points conclusively to Wayne Williams as the killer of eleven young men in Atlanta". He added, however, that he did not find the evidence linking him to "all, or even most" of the child murders to be convincing.[29]

The DC sniper operated all around where we live. My wife was teaching school and at the height of the panic had helicopters over schools when school was let out. Fatal shootings were within a few miles of our house. Football games and homecomings were cancelled. The entire Northern Va and Maryland areas were terrorized.

I imagine it was scary as hell. It was all so totally random.
People were afraid to put gas in their cars.

They usually are. Derrick Todd Lee and the guy from Atlanta that killed all the young black kids in the late 70’s and early 80’s are the only two I can think of.
In addition to the DC Snipers at least 4 recent caught serial killers are African American.....Samuel Little, Lonnie Franklin, Anthony Sowell, and Terry Blair. Carl Eugene Watts is believed to be one of the most prolific serial killers in USA history. And there are 3 dozen more.

If I remember correctly the cops were staking out bridges because that is Wayne Williams disposed of his victims. They heard a body hit the water and then apprehended him. I’ll have to look it up.

John Allen Mohammed’s sister worked at the Mobile on O’Neal Lane. I used to see and talk to her every morning while the killings were happening.
She had no idea it was her brother doing the shootings.

Yes, I believe you are correct. That's how I remember it. I had forgotten that they heard when the body hit the water. But that is how he was disposing of the remains of his victims, from bridges into water.

Yes, I remember that. He was a complete fruitcake, too. The whole thing was just bizarre as well as horrible.

As scary as the time DTL was commiting his murders was, the DC sniper killings really scared me, because as you said, they were totally random killings of people out in public just going about routine business. I still think about that...how easy it would be for some nut to take a pot shot at me with a scoped rifle while, say, I'm sitting in traffic or pumping gas.

The DC killers also killed in Baton Rouge.

Wait...I thought serial killers were always white.
If you believe the Zachary police
You have it backwards, Zachary detectives , Dannie Mixon, David McDavid, and Ray Daywho'd told the "serial killer task force" over, and over that D.T. Lee was who they needed to be looking at hard, but they were told it had to be a white guy because that is what the FBI profile indicated. They were shut out of the case by the task force, but continued to keep Lee under observation, and eventually got probable cause for a DNA sample which solved the case. The task force did zilch, and if they had listened to the Zachary detectives sooner, 2 or 3 of the victim's lives could have possibly been saved.

This shite is fascinating to read for someone who was too young to remember any of this when it happened.

In addition to cell phone records indicating Lee was in the area, the FBI enhanced grainy video from the parking lot and determined she was forced into a white truck.

Was there ever any theories on where he hid the body? I think all of his other victims were found. If I'm not mistaken this was after Pam Kinnamore was found under the Whiskey Bay Bridge. Maybe he'd wised up.
