I remember sweating out it changing directions from the spice channel while my parents were arriving home like the mom from Cat in the Hat
That's cause it was all the way to the east and disney, etc was all the way to the west.
It took like 10 minutes to get back where you should be.

good grief, settle down bro.
Aggie you obvious have never been to one of these "the struggle was real" threads. Always laugh at these things. These kids today got it made
Hell when you're 12 and the only naked woman you had ever seen was in the pages of a rain soaked porn mag with the pages stuck together from all manner of foul shite getting a few seconds of women in spandex lying on their backs and thrusting their hips skyward is as erotic as anything on the internet today. Going from rain and jizz soaked still photos to a few seconds of live action is game changing! These kids today....My dad gave my son a box full of old playboys on his 15th birthday. Kid thanked him and later asked me "why did he do that? We have had the internet since I was born....".
I was in my mid teens before I knew that Grown women did not have staples in their bellies.....

We had one in the 80’s. My dad bought the decipher chip that unscrambled all the channels.
My buddy had one but it wasn’t motorized. He had to go out and hand crank it. Once the figured out each satellite the marked on the crank by numbers for each one.

That’s what made my imagination so good

Holy shite….we had that exact model. It turned a 6 foot long antenna on top of an 8 foot pole attached to the chimney on our roof. All to pick up the same 6 channels coming from two different cities.

We had a C-band satellite dish posted right in our front yard for everyone to see. We also lived in a single wide trailer
I remember sporting events and the news never had commercials so we would hear the news anchors and the commentators talking about everything under the sun.
I think G4 or G5 had the Spice Channel and Playboy. My dad said he knew we were watching it because he could see the satellite from a distance coming home from work and he knew which direction G4/G5 was pointing. As soon as he turned down the driveway, the satellite moved every single time.

Y'all were wealthy. I was the antennae turner in our family....and learned right quick that mama and daddy knew it was lightning and did not care....

I learned from that during that time what women actually had. It was new to me. It was a stage that helped me through puberty.
You could actually imagine during that time, but you could never get to the main course.
JCPenney's Christmas catalog and the Sears catalog also helped

Far from it, dad just loved his TV. We lived on a mountain in N GA and needed that to get stations in ATL or Chattanooga. There was also a PBS tower close by and we could get that on 3 channels.
I had a good friend whose dad was a TV/satellite dealer and repair guy. That had one of those 10 foot dishes like the OP was talking about. You needed to be a NASA engineer to use their remote.
Ive been there more than once when it would grab a porn channel briefly when swinging it from one Sat to next…including once when his grandma was there.

We didn’t get the motorized version until near the end of the tv antenna era. I, too, made hundreds of trips outside to turn that bastard, waiting for someone inside to yell, “Stop!” or “Whoa!” when the reception was as good as it was going to get. 2,9, and 33 when the weather was right.

We never had any cable or old satellite television. We only had 3 channels and maybe a 4th depending on the weather.
I remember going to my Aunt and Uncle's place maybe once a month each Saturday or Sunday to be able to watch the cable they had. That was a different world being able to see TNN and other channels
I had some family that had the big satellite.

You could find a bookie in the 70’s and 80’s by searching for these satellite dishes!

Never a dish but maw maw would use a pipe wrench to turn the pole to aim the antenna at Shreveport or lake Charles or Alexandria for the news.

Had to take a pipe wrench to the regular antenna which was on a 20 foot pole and turn it at times. Never was easy

I remember motorized rooftop TV antennas, with a controller that was typically on top of a big console TV.
This is still a thing if you pickup local stations with an over the air antenna. Since I am in the Houma/Thibodaux area you can have your pick of New Orleans or Baton Rouge stations. Back in the days of analog, KLFY was pretty big down in the bayou area especially on those Sunday afternoons when the Saints were blacked out in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Yes, we had one too. It was the OG Sunday ticket. You could watch any affiliate and find whichever game you wanted. The anchors would curse and talk about all kind of random things during commercials because their feed stayed live

Best friend had one and we were always moving it looking for that quick boob sighting.
