Gautreaux's, Cajun Market, Mikey's, Crystal's, Village Deaux.

Have never tried any of those. I guess that is all a legacy of Rickey Meche's King Cake that got so popular, so fast. He's been making those for 30 years or so now.

I bet Latoya can make a good one in all of her spare time.

She’s too busy eating King Cock in the quarter flop house.

My sister just brought me a boudin king cake from between the buns in ponchatoula. Not bad. Pepper jelly glaze and crackling bits on top.

Gautreaux's, Cajun Market, Mikey's, Crystal's, Village Deaux...Those are just the one's to be voted in the top 3 'Best King Cakes" by the Advocate, KLFY, ect every year. I think this style is very much the "Acadiana Style". You can find similar cakes in other parts of the state, but not at that level, nor with as large a following (pun intended).

It's not the only variety available in the area, obviously the Brioche style can be found as well as the traditional gallette, and Twins and Keller's and some others have unique styles themselves. I would definitely say the Acadiana King Cake is the fried donut style. Doesn't mean it is the only option, but it is definitely the area of the state where you will find not only the most variety of that style, but also see those options ranked higher than the 'traditional cakes' on average.

id bet anything that nobody sells more king cakes in lafayette than kellers.

I like dong phoung flavor but they dont put enough filling. its like they put two little small lines of filling throughout the cake.

Those are very good. I picked up one last year when passing through to see what the hype was. Unfortunately though don’t think those are king cake. Just deliciousness. I got I bought the chocolate blackout or similar. Would buy again.

This is true but randazzos wants $69.95 for their medium traditional. That's laughable even with the delivery charge included
