Yeah but if Sweden achieved herd immunity I'd expect their numbers to plateau and the other country's deaths to raise as time goes on. Time will tell.

You think that is some kind of gotcha?
The point of Sweden's strategy is to get this thing over with sooner than later, preferably before flu season starts back up. Of course they have higher deaths right now.

Natural Herd immunity is going to take a bit of time for them just like vaccines. They are not handling the actual infections well in comparison.

The more who get it now, the less will get it during flu season.

First off, their culture is different and their population isn't full of dolts like the American public.
Also, things aren't much different there than here. Everyone is social distancing, there are rules, police are getting involved in some cases, etc. Places are pretty much empty.

the 2nd peak will almost assuredly happen as we begin to open things back up, probably early summer
its going to come back in the fall no matter what we do, thats inevitable

I'm not the best guy at math, so someone please help me if my math is way off. But going strictly off of the reported confirmed positives for this thing.
The US has a lil over a million positives for Covid19. So with our population of 330 million, that rounds out to about .3% of the population who has or had Covid19.
Sweden has about 21,000 confirmed positives for this. With a population of about 10 million, that rounds out to about .2%
Of course these #s are not completely accurate. Testing rates for the countries may be different. And we don't even know to what extent individuals may have caught it and may be asymptomatic. But even still, I fail to see how Sweden is sooo much closer to herd immunity than we are.

They arent, since herd immunity requires a large portion of the population(60-80% with covid) to be immune.
