The only suspect ever charged for the drive-by shooting that killed rap superstar Tupac Shakur on 7 September 1996 is Duane "Keffe D" Davis. The 63-year-old former gang boss is due to stand trial in Las Vegas, where he is accused of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang. He has pleaded not guilty.

Jury selection and trial proceedings began in August 2026, nearly 30 years after the fatal shooting. Davis has pleaded not guilty and maintains that his past public confessions were exaggerated stories told for financial gain.

Fox 5 Vegas

He's been doing jail interviews with local news lately, and I think it's gonna come back to bite him in the arse. Can't seem to grasp sometimes the best defense is to shut the frick up.

He thought because the cops gave him a deal a long time ago that his testimony in an unrelated issue couldn't be used against him, that he had immunity forever. So then co wrote a book admitting to involvement, and they turned around and busted him because that wasn't part of his initial police interview.

According to almost everyone, his actual killer, as in the shooter, was Orlando Anderson. Long been dead. This trial is about who arranged it. For my money, seeing as though the same Orlando Anderson was beaten by Tupac and co shortly before, id say no planning was made. Both shooter and shootee chose a particular life and per the percentages, they both achieved one of the 2 most likely outcomes of that choice. Guy got beat, got mad and got even. End of story. All the rest is lore, much like a great deal of Tupacs reported legacy. For as talented as he was, as insightful as he could be, and as endeared as he is, hes easily the most overrated rapper/musician of all time. His true legacy is spawning an entire "thug life" generation that has done far more harm to those he loved so much(poor black people) than good.
Keefe D let his mouth write a check his arse can't cash. He can't backtrack now after years of saying he was involved. Even if it's a lie.

I've argued this multiple times.

If 2Pac doesn't get killed in 1996, he would have become a bigger movie star than Denzel Washington.

He was enrolled at the Baltimore school of arts at 15 years old and his movie career was already beginning to blossom. He would have been a huge movie star.

First on screen appearance... 1991 "Nothing But Trouble" with Chevy Chase, John Candy, Dan Akroyd and Demi Moore.

Orlando Anderson. Keffe D was a co-conspirator, but he did not do it. Just a scapegoat to bring some finality to this colossal failure by law enforcement.
