Butchers are constantly injecting meat with "a solution" just to add weight while folding, contorting and hiding fat and gristle in packaged meat you would never buy if you could see it in the package.

Stop shopping in the hood.

Stop buying your meat at Walmart. You get what you pay for.

I'm sure the better prices for USDA Choice have nothing to do with the sheer volume and economies of scale Wal-Mart enjoys.

It turns out that a lot of our meat is enhanced. About 30 percent of poultry, 15 percent of beef, and 90 percent of pork are injected with some kind of liquid solution before sale, USDA says, and it's usually something high in sodium.

Everyone should have a butcher. I see mine several times a week. He recommends different cuts, specials that they have, and advice regarding serving sizes, preparation, etc. If I have an event requiring a special order, he always delivers on price and quantity.

Every man should have a personal relationship with a banker, barber, butcher, and mechanic. Perhaps an attorney.

I wonder if maybe the OP is closet vegan, sowing seeds of doubt among us carnivores.

Useless? Nah. There isn’t an industry that doesn’t rely on sales people to drive revenue. None. So, in essence, without sales people, you’d be unemployed. Perhaps you should bow down to us alphas and kiss our feet in appreciation.

But there are some really scum salesmen. Car sales tends to attract them.

Who can sell you a lemon for thousands more than what it is worth. Then tack on fees and extras like tire packages, extended warranties, gap coverage, and high interest.

I agree with you that used car sales people can be some of the worst folks to deal with, but you do know you can say no right? I mean you aren’t tied down or held against your will.

Your regular small town butcher does not do this. Now when you decide to get chickens and turkeys form the big box stores they are injected with a saline solution to plump them up and make them look larger. When you buy that bright pink tuna steak imported from India it is treated in carbon monoxide to make it look that color. One of the main reasons to use a local butcher is to be able to not have to buy the pre packaged meat in the cooler if you dont want to. You can ask them to cut it for you while you are there so nothing can be hidden from you.

When a company is selling you exact weight they are doing this (i.e. Tyson)... it's not just butchers

You think they weigh individual pieces and mix and match until they get 32oz?... nope, they pump those pieces with salt water to make it correct
