i worked with a guy from Walker who had only left Louisiana once, when he went to Biloxi with a church group for the day. he was a lawyer in his 30's when he drove himself to Houston for a deposition. he left the state for the first time under his own power and stayed at his first hotel.

I've never met anyone who hasn't left LA. BR/NO (where I've spent my LA time) are too close to MS for that to be very likely

You used to hear about people who spent their entire lives in NO but I don't know how common that is now

The furthest north I've set foot in LA is Kentwood (I once drove through Alex and Shreve but didn't get out of the car)

I met a guy in college who'd never stayed at a hotel/motel until late in HS. His family had often gone on trips but they'd always stayed w/relatives

My SO was born and raised in Nola, went to school and worked for a time in NY, and traveled extensively in Europe, but has never set foot in the state of Texas
I've spent almost my entire adult life in MS and LA, I've been to NYC, Wash DC, Boston, Austin, and Niagara Falls, but have never set foot in Arkansas (or for that matter, North LA)

Tucson is a big town. Monroe, Alexandria etc aren't.

Plenty of people in New Orleans who have never left the city or dined in a restaurant
If you define McD's as a restaurant that "plenty" shrinks considerably

My former roommate was 19 and never left Lafayette Parish. The dumbass was sent to Texas for a week for his job and got all the way to NOLA before sensing a mistake.

In 2018 this should be a complete anomaly

A chick I went to college with ended up marrying a guy who had never left fricking Nashville. He looked like an egg. Was an extreme weirdo who had never gone more than 30 miles from his birth his entire life until they met. When he went to Huntsville, he felt like he was on the fricking moon, but it was just an exhibit at the Space Center.

I’ve met Amish people in Ethridge TN who have never been 20 miles from where they were born.

Before TD, Laffy for me was a place on the way to TX or maybe to go on a day trip for a couple of meals. People in BR just don't, or at least didn't, think about it much otherwise.

N. LA was a place I seldom thought of all. I recall when I was at LSU (late '80s) virtually everyone I hung out with was from BR or NO. Then I met a guy from Shreveport. It was so alien, it seemed like meeting somebody from Saskatchewan.

I thought you meant to live somewhere else. But you mean nevah evah, even for a trip?

Shut, when I was three years old I realised that Mississippi was closer than Alec. Alec is better though......

Living in southeast Louisiana for most of my life I don't think I've met anyone who hasn't at least been to Mississippi. Even the the people I grew up with whose families struggled a bit would occasionally take a weekend trip to gulf shores or something.

Using I-10, El Paso is closer to Los Angeles than it is to Orange, and Orange is closer to Jacksonville than it is to El Paso.
