I bought two. On the news yesterday, they said check the battery to see if it is a name brand battery or some knock off chinese POS.

Of course mine are knock off batteries. Pretty easy to replace but cost $90 each.

I am surprised that Lithium Polymer batteries are as commonly used as they are. Damn things can be seriously dangerous if damaged or overcharged.

Yes. And bought a good charger that doesn't overcharge the batteries and start fires...

See kids (9-11) on them in my neighborhood. Looks fun, hoping my wife bought me one for Christmas.

It's the new female FB rant this holiday season. They all bitching about how their kids are begging for this thing but hell no they're not buying it b/c it explodes and will burn your house down
I tried to educate one of them by telling her if she bought one that costs $800+ she'd be OK & that's it's the cheap $200 ones that aren't perfectly safe due to the cheap battery, not the actual board, but she was having none of that.

well let me educate you.
The expensive ones are made by and created by Segway and are named "Swagway". They do not cost $800 and were created and aptly named so as to appeal to ghetto culture.

This is why you see all these little white kids riding them and wanting them for Christmas.

The Hovertrax costs $800

Eta: looks like the price has dropped, on Amazon at least, to $499

I wasn't really meaning to ridicule you. Just stating what i know to be fact.

Original Swagway $399

quote:

Specifications Bright LED Lights (headlights) Battery: Samsung or LG Lithium Voltage: In: 110-240v Out: 36v Size: 23w x 7.3h x 7.3d (inches)

This is what the difference is. Lithium polymer batteries need to have a good charge, balance and cutoff circuit to keep them in check. Hell, we all carry lithium batteries in our pockets everyday.
The main cause of these batteries exploding is the cutoff circuit( keeps the voltage from dropping to low and damaging the cells) is made cheaply and does not function right in the cheap boards.

Be sure your homeowners is paid up and I suggest moving all important documents to a safe deposit box or fire safe.

Let's find more ways to make people even more lazy.

Only a matter of time until scooters are the thing because you can sit in them.

Hey kids! Not just for paraplegics or grand-ma anymore!

This one has rims!

Not sure what is funny? I'm a kid at heart. Me and my father-in-law (upper 50's, white) want one to mess around with and I'm not going to pay for it. If someone else gets it for me then great. Race literally has nothing to do with it.

There are also 100's of different manufacturers and I have never heard of "swagway". You watch too much worldstar.

I never said it wasn't true, just that I never heard of it. Quit getting defensive over a toy.
